  • Bands Twisted 360?! and Center plate evaluation

I'm in the process of tearing into my T20 (1977 Build) and I take apart the first half and everything looks generally ok... some delamination of the bands and some sludge, but nothing too crazy. I pop the center plate and start looking in the second half and I immediately see this weirdness... Looks at if the bands somehow got twisted at least 360 degrees. This can't be normal, how does this happen? (The machine and 6x6's in general are pretty new to me). Think these can be brought back by transmission crafters while relining, or are they (as I suspect) toast? Thanks in advance!

The other thing I wondered about was how far a center plate can be scored before it has to be tossed... Here is what mine looks like.

I don't know what would have caused that kind of twisting. It's almost as though someone was trying to adjust the transmission by continuing to torque the bolts in the plungers but you would think that the force that it would take to do that would be pretty great. I would post a wanted ad in the classifieds for two bands and a center plate. You should be able to get some bands that need relining and then send those two along with your two good ones in to get relined.
