  • Stuck driven clutch

My driven clutch appears to be stuck open. The Max2 appears to be only very lightly used, but did sit for a long time. I'm trying to avoid removing the transmission. I've tapped it pretty good with mallets, but is there a tip anyone has to getting it moving again without pulling the whole transmission to pull the clutch off?

Will I be able to close it by hand? Haven't worked with a clutch this size before. Most experience I have is with a Tony go cart. Lol

Try spraying the center and outer with PB Blaster. Also make sure there is NO rust build up on center shaft as that will keep it from sliding together and open.
Also you will need to Turn the inner section when closing.

Yes you should be able to move it back together. Just watch your fingers !!

See if the clutch aluminum casting with the ramps is loose it may have lost the retaining ring and slipped off the clutch shaft. the spring will have lost tension and unwound if this is the case.

I'm an idiot. My driven is stuck closed. Did an overnight soak in some food grade penetrating we have from the packing shed. Gonna grab some PB this afternoon

If your driven (trans mounted) stuck is closed in order for it to open one would need to twist and push/pull depending on whether it's mounted or not as it is under spring pressure to keep closed. If it is the drive clutch ( engine mounted) closed see the thread below this one.
