  • T20 jumping out of forward gear

I have an old style T20 that won't stay in forward gear. I know that the Carrier drum is bad and have included a picture if it. The planetary gears wore into the drum. I might try to mill the drum down and just use the thrust washers like the newer models. The question I have is about the Carrier Plates. They both look same as far as the teeth wear and width. I don't know if they are worn out and do I need new ones? Or will they they work? I haven't found any good pictures or specs of a new plate. Does anyone know if my plates are good to go?

Ok thanks, it must be the worn out carrier drum that is helping it to pop out of gear. I also noticed on the bench the left side doesn't shift with that satisfying CLUNK Clunk like the right side. It just slides hard like the detent spring or shift shaft is worn. I'm going to disassemble the left side and check it out further.

Check the condition of the pin on the diamond shifter. if the pin is worn it may not be pushing the shift collar fully into gear.
