  • T20 has FWD-Nuetral and shifts to reverse, but will not go in reverse.

I recently purchased a Max II and managed to get it running after sitting for more than 10 years. It was taken apart when I got it so I have no information from previous owner about mechanical issues. It runs just fine and performs well in forward, the gear shift will shift nicely from forward to neutral and the Diamond shift plates do show the engaged position in reverse and when shifted into reverse you can see the chain drives flinch. With the engine off and shifted into reverse you cannot roll it manually, so that leads me to believe that it is locked in gear but with the engine on when throttled up it will not move in reverse. Seriously stumped on this one any help is appreciated. I don't believe the dowel pins are sheared off because it will go from forward to neutral.

Welcome to the site Kevin. Congrats on your purchase. Your post doesn't indicate whether you have any experience with these machines, so let me start with the most basic....pull back on the laterals to go backwards when in reverse. Next, make sure the laterals and linkage are free and fully travel back and forth. Next, pull the diamond shifters out and visually inspect the pins. Although its shifting, the reverse side of the pin could be worn enough that it is not completely engaging in reverse. Next, adjust the plungers. Here are the instructions. T20 band adjustment.pdf

Check these out and report back.
