Jay even labled packages with the corect amount of hardware in each package for the engine in my Max. Even sent me a belt alignment tool.

Old clutch off, new clutch on.

Figured as long as I had the trans out I would rebuild it and change the gearing.

Pressed the old gears off and made gears from hubed gears with hardened teath from Fastenal.

Pressed the new gears on with .003 press and welded with high strength low temp rod for security.

Put the trans back together and install the new driven clutch from Jay as instructed.

    Back in and aligned.

This CVTech clutch is AWESOME! Engages just off idle, holds low perfect and works with the 13T T-20 gears like it was ment to be. I love my Max again.

The dog does pretty good in the mud too. Keith.

Nice Work on your Max!! Great set up. I like the video. I have a couple of question Keith, What does the alignment tool Jay sent you look like and why does your belt squeal at idle(mine does too)? I would like an exhaust like your for my 18hp Briggs.Nice sound. Do you notice a big difference with a header pipe now? And is that a 40HP KOLHER? THANKS!

It's the 25HP Kohler and yes I notice a difference in performance with the pipe. Throttle response is much crisper.

I am not sure if the noise is from the belt or clutch itself. I have been told the primary clutch can be noisy. I have my engine shimmed up 3/8 of an inch so the belt has just over an inch of deflection. I might try pulling out an 1/8" shim when I get a chance to see if that makes a difference. Right now if I start it in gear it sort of wants to creep forward. I sort of like it that way so I might try taking the springs off the control sticks and see if that makes a difference first.

        Here is the alignment tool

You place a straight edge on the inside of the face of the primary clutch and run it down towards the secondary. Hold the short leg of the tool (with the hole) against the outside edge of the secondary. Slide the engine over until the end of the long leg touches the straight edge. The distance of the long leg measured from the inside of the short leg is 2.125".

        Keith.

Nice work. That was a great video. I thought your dog was going to get stuck before you did.

KGHILLS video, his MaxIV in the mud

I found this KGHills video on You Tube and just had to post it, very impressive mud test with his MaxIV. I am totally impressed with this MaxIV.
