t20 o rings

i'm looking at a max iv and can you put new plunger o rings in a t20 without tearing down or is a tearing down the only way?

The only way I know of is to tear it down, if the plungers come out far enough to allow you to put o-rings on then you need new band liners because the lining is gone. Or the anchor pins are not in their correct place. Either way, you will need a tear down. Be sure to read the "how to" article on t-20's, and mark your bands for position if you completely remove them, because they have to go back in their correct place.

Also, ensure that you put some vaseline or another type to thick lube when putting the plungers in, to make sure that you don't shear any of the rubber of when re-installing them. Plus, the plunger should come all the way out of the plunger hole with the band attached, and then slide the new rubber seals on with the lube, and slowly push or tap them back in there respected positions. I learned the hard way before reading the "how to" article on T-20's.

Sure thing Brushcutter,, Just trying to do my part to help out. I've learned so much from other members here,, I'm just giving back to others what I learned from others. Besides,,, I made two un-needed trips to Lowes for those rubber seals when i rebuilt my first T-20, and gas was about $3.50 down here in Georgia then,,, So you know I was a little on the hot side.
