Hey guys just back from the shed. Took the chain out of the box sized it up. Found the half way point (5ft or 48 links) the chain looks nice and can't wait to put it on! Just got to grind the link flat and take the pins out! Just my luck ,turned the grinder on the the motor started smoking and wouldn't move, anyways will try to find another lol!

        Curtis...

I'm a newbie with the Argo so I contacted a high volume dealer that has a lot of experience with Argos and he suggested the Macs Chain and Cable lube from NAPA. I have used it and I think I will stick with it. It foams like shaving cream when applied and sort of melts into the links and saturates the chain. Some of it will drip into your pans but debris slings off and does not stick to the chain. It's easy to wipe out with shop towels if you want also.

Curtis, try a bigger hammer. if your using a pin punch you will need to smack it pretty good.

Ok, I was using a standard size hammer and a chain saw file lol what could I use that is heavy dutier? Find it hard to keep it in place and hit it right in the middle

Chain breaker. Not expensive. What Vance said.

                          Down size on chain?

Honest to god that double 50 stuff is way to expensive and I do t use my Argo under a lot of stress so would single 60 be good for the back when my new double 50 wears out? They use it on the new machines so why not. Once again I don't use my Argo under stress. Don't have tracks only ride in summer that's it.so!

If you treat it well, clean and lube it regularly, the double 50 will last for years. If you go single 60 new sprockets will be spendy!

I think you should maintain your machine factory specs and utilize the double 50 as equipped. Switching over sprockets is not a pleasurable experience, besides that when you sell the machine most folks on this forum at least, will pickup on the modification.

The time to buy chain is when you don't need it.

You could take the money you save by downgrading the double 50 chain to a single 60 and buy a good sturdy pair of boots and some walking poles for when your machine leaves you stranded and you get to appreciate nature more on your walk home or to camp...
There's a reason why ODG uses double 50 chains in some places and not single 60 all over...
