I tried to install the new rear chains but they are to tight to pull together by hand. Is it to tight or normal?

It's not uncommon to have to use needle nose pliers or other tools to pull the two ends together. As long as you have cut the chain the correct length (pin count) it won't be too tight. New chain will stretch a little when you start running it.

Curtis, If you have the wheels off of the ground you can hold one still with your knee and turn the other one to tighten the chain on the bottom and force all of the extra to the top.I find it easiest if you try to have the chains meet on top of or near a sprocket.

you dont need vice grips just some thick zip ties. that is what i use to pull the ends tight to install the master link.

Yeah I think I do need vice grips. Tried some heavy duty electrical wire only thing I had around at the time and pulled the two ends together with the help of vice grips pulling in the wire and it came so close ( where is that extra hand whenever you need it) I will try ziptie and if that don't work vice grips it is

you can also take a medium size '' c '' clamp and weld a short piece of a cement cut nail to the rigid side of the clamp and the screw side of the clamp. put each one in the chain links and tighten to pull chain together. this works good as long as you have the room. j.b.

                      New chains to tight?

I recently bought some new rear double 50 chain. It is too tight to put on with 2 zip ties in each chain. And the tensioner would be really tight. Normal or not. Need some help quik

If you can pull the ends together with a pair of modified vice grip pliers and install the master link your ok.

Or they make an actual tool called a chain puller that works very well...

And as someone mentioned elsewhere get the 2 tires that the chain links off the ground, bring the chain underneath and then over the sprockets, and roll the tops of the tires toward each other. That will take all the slack out of the lower portion of the chain.
