I remember talking to someone about a Conquest and there was mention of an electric solenoid in the carb that will gall or get stuck somehow. I think it shuts fuel off to the carb. If there's a bad connection, it would open and close or stay closed.
I have no experience with that engine, but maybe its good info.

Yes the Conquest has a fuel shutoff solenoid on the carb. It has something to do with shutting the fuel off because the carb is lower then the tank or something like that according to the shop that works on Kawasaki engines here in Fairbanks.

They also told me they couldn't work on my argo until the end of next week(friday/saturday) so I guess I will just have to wait.

thanx for all the replies.. took it out tonite to see what the fuel pump would do for it.. seemed to run ok for about 10 minutes until i snapped the chain between second and third axle. foot jumped up about six inches.. it all piled up underneath the sprocket on second axle.

          OUCH,
That can be a pain sometimes. Was it the master link that failed? Chain can really get jammed up like that, any problems getting it back out?

no,master link was good. mustve been the one that caught the pair of pliers that i had been missing for a few days!! it actually came out easy. put the machine in reverse and drove back a few feet while pulling on the chain. seem to have the bog figured out. just wondering isnt the governor supposed to add more throttle when you load the engine down?? my machine when i get in the deep snow seems to bog out and run low rpms. any ideas?? this is the reason behind trying to shorten the spring like i had done before

              Pliers

              Pliers!
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

So what was the final problem for the bogging? Was it the fuel pump that fixed your problem? I'm still waiting to get mine in the shop. They are suppose to look at it this Friday/Saturday. That is the only days they will work on Argos.

Have you cleaned/lubed your clutches lately? If your engine is bogging down from high load, your clutches should start to backshift. This brings you into a "lower gear", making it easier for the engine to pick up RPM's. (It's not as simple as just that, but your clutches should backshift as you loose RPM, even if you are under load.)

I replaced the driver clutch(engine clutch)on mine a couple of months ago. It probablly only has 10-15 hours on it. I have also done the clutch mods on mine also.

to answer some of your q's. it hasnt been dying out since i replaced the fuel pump. put a 3.5-5psi pump in. argo pumps i beleive are 2.7 it seemed to have done the job though! as far as cleaning and lubing the clutches i havent done that yet. i have a brand new secondary in the garage waiting to go into the machine but i cant seem to get the old one off. i have seen post's of this on here and i dont think im gonna have it very easy. the secondary like i said has cracks in it and is warped. when revving it up in neutral you can see it wobble in one spot.

on my argo for some reason when the gas would get about a 1/4 of a tank when every thing was cold it would suck gas and work ok but as things wormed up it would start running like crapp and i would have to let it cool down a bit well come to find out the fuel pump would start to suck some air from some place becouse it was easer to suck some air from some pace then it was to suck some gas that far up to the pump so i tightend every thing up and made sure it was sucking gas and not air and it runs fine now even at all most an empty tank i think that running it over some ruff ground and bouncing around tends to make things come loose now I have a different problem my altanater quit charging so i called a dealer and he said nine out of ten times it is the voltage regulater reather then the alt but my volatage regulater was not hooked up so i asume that the regulater is built in to the altanter is this so or am i mistaken the voltage regulater was just bolted in and not hooked up to any thing ever sence I owned it and now it stop chargeing thanks for any help Skip

just to let ya guys know. tonite after work i fiddled around with the machine. i did again bend the governor spring because it seems like their too long when i receive them. the ride tonite was pretty good. one little trouble. the throttle assembly mounted on the engine in front of the carb was slid forward in the slots and when i left the yard and got to the road the throttle linkage underneith had swung out and caught the valve cover!! not good when ya gotta cross 2 roads got it stopped and fixed and when i hit the lake i actually had power and speed. seems nice!! got the machine goin 31.7 on gps tonite. just wondering if anyone else has ever had trouble with the governor spring in their machines?? maybe i could do some minor mods to the throttle assembly?? just needs a bit more ummf and ill be happy and leave it at that.
