Didn't try gas. Will tomorrow. Tried spray in carb. It has popped 3 times on 3 different battery charges.

Pull the recoil and watch rotation.

Well I poured some fuel in spark plugs hole. It tried to run. Good news ! So I guess I have a problem with the carb. It's getting fuel to it just not delivering it to the cylinder.

Is this a mikuni or a walbro or tillotson pump carb?

It's a mikuni with a separate vacuum operated pump

Do you have any way to prime the carb? You may not have a problem, you might just have no fuel in the carb. I would try putting gas in spark plug hole a couple more times. When it tries to run the pump should pull enough gas to get it started. If you don't have a primer for the fuel pump I would put one in or you will have the same problem over and over again.

I had a few extra minutes over the weekend. Kept trying the fuel in the plug hole thing. Its very close to running but it dies when i let off the key from the start position. I had to replace the key switch when i first got it. May have wired it wrong or im just not getting fuel in engine yet. I did partially shear a flywheel key in the process, that leads me to believe that my timing is off. Hopefully i am finally on the right track.

You just hit on 2 big things - sheared key and erroneous wiring. Get that straightened out she might purr like a kitten!

Well still no luck. It almost runs during crank but not quite. Getting fuel to carb but not sure it's getting in the engine. Any suggestions?

Float level could be wrong and not letting fuel in thru the needle and seat? Jets plugged? Will start if you put gas in cylinder?

Jets are not plugged. It doesn't run with gas in cylinder but almost. Makes some smoke and heat during crank. I will check float level next.

Adjusted float and now fuel runs out exhaust. Guess carb needs to come off again to lean it out. I really didn't think I moved it that much though. Must be a very finicky engine.
