New plug in. No change

Did you try a little gas down the spark plug hole? If you have spark and the compression is good and you are sure the timing is correct, then I would say it's fuel. Try some fuel down the spark plug hole. Torque the plug back in and see what happens. You might get the spark plug a little too wet so if you pull it a couple of times and nothing happens, pull the plug and clean it off, then put it back in and try again.

This is a stumper. From all the posts on this thread it seems the thing should fire up and run. Where are you located?

I've put fuel in the plug hole and tryed either in carb and cylinder. I've worked on things like this for 35 years. Was an auto technician for 20 years. I know my way around a toolbox. Only thing unsure to me is points. I'm using a buzzer inline to check timing. Timed it 1 complete round plus .25 on dial indicator BTDC. I did replace the key switch early on. Is it possible I did something wrong there. I have spark during crank but could I be missing something there? Only other question in my mind is losing spark under compression. Spark plug always seems dry when I take it out though. Crankcase seems mostly dry

With all the either sprayed in there, I might pull the head and look at the cylinder. Then if ok I might try a little oil in the cylinder, bolt the head back on and try the gas thing again.

I just had the head off of it to set the timing but I'm not opposed to taking it off again.

Although I do have spark. Maybe it is a little weak. What could cause that? This thing won't backfire, pop or anything. Just spins when I turn the key. It doesn't even try to act like it's gonna run.

Is there something crazy going on here? Is there a chance that when the plug and wire are in place its is somehow grounding out, but when you remove the wire or pull the plug to check for spark it no longer grounds itself out? I know this is a long, long shot but.....

You are absolutely sure the starter is turning the engine the right way? Have you tried it with the recoil instead of the starter?

I’m up north of you in Iroquois county and I have another engine I acquired and will never use. If you ever get this way I will give it to you. Don’t know a lot about it but it turns over and has great compression so I think it’s fine.

Should I replace points and condenser? Not sure it I replaced condenser it's been so long ago. Only other possibility would be coil and wiring

Or other wiring issue. The recoil with key switch un connected would make system stand alone, though you may have to yank plug wire to shut down if it starts.

Where would be a good place to get them. That way I can be sure to get the correct ones
