  • Very new to this

I recently traveld 450 miles to state collage PA to get my first attex atv. I'm only 14 but my dad is the best person for anthing mechanical. He is certified in everything for cars. I previously had some offroad go-karts but saw a 6 wheeler somewhere on youtube. Ever since that i had my mind set on buying one (mostly for the water). Once i got it home I was so anxious to start it and drive it. But it was in no condition to run. once i got the engine (ccw 400) going it wouldn't idle but i could still drive it but around (i rebult the whole engine after) 4 of the ballon tires went.then i noticed how expensive the tires are! To make things worse i took it to a rocky quarry and banged up the bottom. So i brought it home in the dark and hoped for the best when i shined a light on it. With my luck it looks like the WHOLE bottom has been patched. I haven't driven it since but i have bought a new g50b engine for it.

      • Hey

I found this site while searching for parts for my Borg Warner T-20 transmission. So far it has been very informational.
        I'm Casey, 25, from New Iberia, LA. I own a 1969 Huslter 960-HK.
It has been down for about 7 years, due to worn Tranny drums and bands. I had a Mechanic friend of mine look at it back then, and said it couldn't be fixed, and that the parts weren't obtainable. I never dreamed I could get them online.

I look forward to chatting with you guys.

        • Welcome to the site NOOB and Cyriak. Cyriak, if you haven't ordered your parts yet I recommend trying the wanted section here or calling the manufacturer direct. You will most likely get the best deal that way. Then you can follow the how-to guide in the articles section for the rebuild if you get stuck. Here's a link to their site: Amphibious Six-Wheel Drive All-Terrain Vehicles: MaxATVs - Call 1-800-255-2511

            • Welcome Cyriak,
The internet has help put together alot of vintage aatv's. Without it alot of these machines would be missing that one part that makes it go, what ever that part may be. Also alot of great knowledgable people to help put that part back in. Glad you found the site and good luck with that hustler.

                • Thanks for the Welcome

                  Thanks for the welcome guys.

Yea I'll be assessing the parts I need in the upcoming week. I'll be sure to check the links out, as I will be pricing/checking availability on everything, before I get too deep.
I did some research on the type of plastic used on the Body of my 6x6, and I believe to be ABS. It this a fact? I have a plastic Welding kit I will use, unless I have better suggestions.
Also, anyone know where I can find the Rubber slip-on trim that fits on the edges of the plastic? So far I haven't been able to find any parts for the body. I can refab the fram if I need, it is the nit-picky thats sometime hard to find it seems.

                  Thanks in advance.

                    • Hi pducks, welcome to the site. It sounds like your patience will eventually pay off with a nice 6x6 project. Once you find something post back up and tell us a little about it. It's always fun watching someone go through a buildup.
