      • Good day to you all!

My name is Gijs, I live in the Netherlands and I have no experience with 6 x 6 vehicles. I joined this forum because I want to learn about the subject. As my country is flat in general atv's are not as common as in your country. My goal is to buy or build an atv for my grandson, who is now almost six weeks. I am thinking of using two electric motors from a wheelchair or the like to construct a small tracked vehicle that can be operated by levers rather than a handlebar. That way he can not crush into a handlebar in front of him when he hits something and is forced to keep both hands inside while driving. Ready made toys in our country look good but are usually crap as even a slight incline or step in the pavement is too much for them. There is no need to go faster than 5 miles / hour but traction is important. Most toys in my country go too fast and fail as soon as even two wheels get off a hardened road surface. I hope to learn a lot from you all, for example the advantages / disadvantages of 6 x 6 compared to 8 x 8. Has any of you experience with the brand Amphitruck? ( http://www.amphitruck.nl/pages/39236/Contact.html ) Thanks beforehand!

        • Hello All..New to the site and the 6x6's. I bought a early model MAX II with a Kawasaki 440 2 stroke in it. I want to upgrade to a quieter four stroke briggs and stratton vanguard 16. Is there a howt-o on this procedure posted anywhere? I want to see what Im in for...
          Thanks Mark SOUTH Jersey

          • Welcome to the site interswing, Reanimo, and databus. Databus, you can easily have more money into the upgrade than the machine is worth. Consider buying a newer machine with the 4 stroke, a mid 80's with the tecumseh engine should be in the $1-2000 range, and 90's machines with the briggs twin more like $2500. Deals are out there, but you have to be quick. Always plan on new bearings and chains on a used machine, seems like they always need them. Good luck.

              • hello, i just picked up a max yesterday for $250. the body is rough, may need to be replaced if i cant seal it, when i got it the left center axle was completly out of place, i ended up getting that put back together, dont know the year but it has a rockwell jlo in it, only runs off starting fluid, and when i put pressure in the fuel line it ran a few seconds off gas, any ideas? i havent had time to really work on it, i hope to get it running next weekend though. does anyone know where i can find any markings or stamps to find information about it? such as the engine size, year, ext..

                      • Hi all,

New member from Newfoundland, Canada. Just bought a 2002 conquest. Have enjoyed looking at some of the vids on here (have not had a chance to see all). Especially like RockDoctor's vids. Looks like he puts his machine to good use. To bad he lives on the other end of the country. Think it would be nice to ride with him.

Still trying to get use to what I can and cannot do with my machine. I do know that my boys do enjoy the rides that we have done so far. Mostly have been riding on an old track that was removed years ago. Lucky this track is only 400feet from my home and can give me accesss to the whole province. I am sure that I will have a lot more rides before the summer is out and a lot of fishing trips. I think it would be more enjoyable to ride with other aatv.

Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.
