    • First post

I just aquired a max iv and just got an engine and everything to put it together, however, I could really use a picture of the inside of the engine compartment so I can get an idea of how everything goes. I have a briggs and stratton 16 horse v twin. I'm also looking for some input on the wiring.

      • Hi rockyboating, welcome to the site. For a picture, go to the gallery and look in the Max section. There are a ton of pictures there. You can also look on the manufacturers website. They too have a lot of detailed pictures: Amphibious Six-Wheel Drive All-Terrain Vehicles: MaxATVs - Call 1-800-255-2511

        • Hi mike my name is Chris. I aquired the max iv from a nimrod and rebuilt the transmission, bought a b&s van guard motor
Now I'm getting ready, monday, to put everything together once my clutch arrives. This is my first time doing this, but I am very mechanically inclined, but I can't find a manual, or pictures detailed enough to show me how. The engine mounting plate is all hacked up, and I need tires and rims. Rims aren't bad, just old. Complete restoration, need help.

          • HI, my name is Camp,I have never owned an off road vehicle until a recently acquired 2001 MAX IV from Craigs list.Info provided in your site has really helped as I have gone through the broken tranny bolts, bad sprocket bearing, and loose drive belt problems The MAX has a custom roll cage with steel angle all around the body and a 1/4 in. thick aluminum roof. There are tow recievers front and rear and a trolling motor was included .

I have been a hunter all my life and until this past deer season walked every where I hunted. It's a different world with the MAX IV.

            • Hi Camp, welcome to the site and congratulations on your Max IV. It sounds like you have already gotten your hands dirty fixing a few minor problems so now you should be able to enjoy it.

                • Hi argo1, welcome to the site. What 6 wheeler are you looking at getting? If you are looking at an Argo or a Max, then those two are still being produced today.

                    • Well hows it going ,I am a 1st time owner of a 6x6 Argo not even sure what year, but ended up with it after doing some horse trading. It needs some attention, but does still runs pretty good .I am a journeyman welder and pipefitter with an extensive mechanical back ground as well. Watched some of your you tube videos and now I am ready to start having some fun ,safely of course.
It looks as though the chains and shear pins could be an issue with these machines what is the first recommendation to beef this unit up.

                        • Phew! 'Had to delve into acronym finder for a couple of those. Abbreviations suck.

You'll have to be a little more specific in your description of what "part's" [sic] you're looking for. What brand of machine do you have? If you don't know, you could post a picture so we don't have to conjur The Amazing Kreskin (holy crap, he's still around!) for help on what it is you're trying to fix up... I have a floor pan for a Chaparral and the shift lever for a Kadoo if that'll help.

EDIT:: Okay, I see you posted a couple pictures. You have a 1973-1975(ish) Attex Chief/Thunderchief/Wild Wolf style machine. Now that we've established that, post in the Attex forum for what specifically you need help on, and we'll get you fixed up....
