Hey all, Im Mike in Peoria heights,IL. I dont have a 6x6 but hope to buy one sooner than later. My dad had one when I was a kid, and Ive wanted one ever since. What I have now, Im trying to trade for one, I have a golf cart I built and painted, but want to trade it for a 6x6 just to have one. I dont really have a place to ride it, but Im sure I'll find a place when I get one! I live really close to the illinois river (5 mins away) so I'll get some use out of it along the bank. I wondering though, when looking at these things, can anyone tell me what to look out for? any specific brand? how to tell if the bearings are bad, chains are bad etc? Im pretty mechanically inclined but when my dad had one I was still a kid with no understanding. Thanks for the site and look forward to chattin with everyone! I'll try to post a pic of my cart

Welcome MikeyM,
There is a buyers guide on the site that has a check list of things to look for. To check the bearings just get the wheel off the ground and check for play in it. I personally love machines that have a t-20 transmision in them like attex, max, and hustler, others will say Argo is the way to go. Just do your reading on the site, then you can ask us the right questions to determine what a good machine for you is.l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

Great thanks! I found a guy in wisconsin that has a max 4, which is really what I want, and said its up for trade, so I messaged him and he asked for more pics of the cart...keeping my fingers crossed! Im leaning more towards a max simply because thats what my dad had. he bought a dealer that was closing down here in the Peoria,Il area in the early 90's and ended up with 5 of them! I will look up that buyers guide! thanks again! Oh and one more thing, what kinda wave can these things handle in the water? if im just messin around by the shore, do I have to watch the waves from the boats or can they handle them? Thanks Again!
