        • A New Guy in Texas

Howdy Y'all! My name is Judson Crowder and I live in Houston, Texas. I am new to the 6x6 world, and I have my cousins husband to thank for showing me that these even existed. I've never owned any type of ATV, but I do own a 1979 Yamaha XS11 and at 2005 BMW GS 1150 Adventure of which I ride as much as I can, but that can is not much at this point in life. Anyway, I now own a 1999 MaxII and a 2002 MaxIV. I didn't mean to buy 2 of the machines, but that is just the way it happened. I thought about selling the II, but I figured it would be good to have a back up, or one for somebody else to drive. I purchased them to ride on my 100 acres of hunting land that has a swamp and will occasionally flood about 40 acres. When it floods, and with the Max's, I can now duck hunt in the middle of the temporary lake, then drive off and pig or deer hunt. Very few people have these down here, that I am aware of, so I am anticipating I will be doing all of my repairs and maintenance. I'm looking forward to learning a lot about these machines, and learning from the experts here on the problems at hand, and just being a part of this group. Thanks for being here, and I look forward to meeting you in the forum

          • Howdy Justin, welcome to the forum. That's a great way to get started with amphibious machines. Have fun with both of your ATVs.

            • Hello-- My Name is Ken I just bought a used 1994 Max 11 -- so much fun, my son clipped a tree and bent the front axel. I am looking for a good parts dealer where I can but a axel and a bushing.
I live around Marion Indiana if anyone knows of a good place to ride. Also when he crashed the right steering stick ended up forward and not even with the other joy stick. I found the bolts that control the transmission valves are somewhat loose. Does anyone know of a video or can tell me how tight those bolts need to be.

              Thanks

              • Hello Ken, welcome to the forum. Try posting a wanted ad in the classified section of the forum for your axle. I've clipped a tree or two myself with similar results. For the transmission, it's not a matter of tightening the plunger bolts as much as it is getting the bands adjusted correctly. If you will look on the home page of this forum, there is a how-to article on rebuilding the transmission that will show you how to adjust them. With the sticks getting uneven all of a sudden, i would first look at the linkage between the sticks and the transmission. If there is nothing wrong there, I would worry that I may have broken a band in the T20. As long as the transmission still works fine in forward and reverse, then you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

                • Thanks Mike for the welcome. Just as an FYI, it is Judson, not Justin. I get that a lot.

                    • Hi I'm Jeff from Hibbing MN. I just picked up my first aatv. It's a 70s sierra trail boss with a vanguard 18 swap. It needs a transmission or the planetary gears for one. I'm looking forward to putting this thing to use.

I have to put alot of work into it so I Will ask alot of questions.. Please sorry in advance!

                          Regards. Mattias in Åre,Sweden!

                          • Hello Mattias, welcome to the forum. I have family in Linkoping. I think there are many members that have seen ATVs in similar conditions as you. If the owner would have only removed the drain plugs when they parked it, the condition of the drivetrain would have been so much nicer. Good luck with your rebuild.

                              • Hello everyone!!!!!!!!! My name is Clark Stewart and i currently still live in California. In the 60's my dad invented the Terra Gator. There is a brochure here on this website, which a friend of mine alerted me too. So that is why I am here actually. If anyone has any questions they would like to ask me, I encourage that. I still have all the engineering plans, specs and cost sheets for the Terra Gator that my dad used in the 60's. Also have pictures of the assembly plant, as well as some pictures of my dad, mom, and us kids in the Terra Gator.
