  • Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum. I recently purchased a 2004 Argo Avenger 8x8 with 48 original hours. This machine was show room clean. It sat for several years. After getting it home I changed the oil, and transmission. Motor sounds good. When I drive it in low or high gear (forward) I hear a clattering noise. It has the skid steer split trans. Is it normal to hear this or is this a problem?
    Thanks. Mike

    • Hello everyone, I’m new here have been on 4 wheelers for quite some time. My brother in law had a Hustler that I once rode and always wanted a 6x6 since. Recently purchased a 1994 Max II in really good shape last owner bought it from the original owners son who acquired after his dad passed. Got a bunch of paperwork with it had not ran in over 4yrs I got it started on second pull. However has one broken chain and looking to replace all bolts etc. To bring it back to almost mint condition.

        • Hello everyone! I thought I already did this but can't seem to find my post. Brand new to the world of 6X6 vehicles. I recently purchased and SPD Wedge And have fallen in love with this thing. I have driven it twice which showed me some problems. I have a set of sprockets on a shaft . 3 on each side which are the primary coming off of the drive shaft. The center chain is running at an angle witches causing premature wear. The result is chain popping every time I tried to turn right. Are these sprockets sold aftermarket? Or will I just have to rebuild it myself?

Also seems that 1 sprocket on left side if you are sitting in the vehicle is actually rubbing on the fiberglass tub that you sit on. Not sure what I'm going to do about that . Are there any owner's manuals out there? I have looked and have knock found hide nor hair of one yet. Also I have seen where these head a jet drive on them. Mine did not come with one but I am wanting to resource 1 And install myself.
Thank you for any information you guys can give to me.I think this little beast will make a fine addition to our family.

            • Hey everyone! New to the 6x6 world just bought a 1999 max 4 with a 22hp predator motor. Basically got the machine to run around my property which consists of dry land, swamp, marsh and a small river. Live outside Raleigh nc. Also looking for a mechanic who works on these t20 trannys. Look forward to taking part with the group!

Perhaps member racerone3 may be interested in working on your t-20 depending on his schedule.

                  • Hi to all,

I just bought a 1999 Argo Conquest 8x8 with only 360 hours on it (...if true!). I knew it had some issues when I bought it but with fresh gas, I was able to make it run! It came with tracks that I ave not installed yet. The winch is not connected to the battery and the underfloor needs a major clean-up! This week-end, I plan to change plugs oil, filter, air filter, grease all hubs, oil chains, etc. I'll star by decreasing and cleaning everything and then start new.

I've tried to adjust the carburetor last week-end but I still have a lack of power. If after changing plugs and air filter, the problem persists, I will try to adjust valves and check coils. Any other suggestions?

                    Thank you in advance!
