            • Hey to All!

I took my first REAL look a 6x6 this past weekend up at the lake and was interested.

I know nothing about them and they look like a high maintenance item, BUT!

I would be interested in a used one to get my feet wet so to speak.

My house on Lake Huron used to have water about 50ft off the rear deck, now with the water levels down about 3 ft, it's about 600ft and loaded with cat-tails, small tree's and lake grass.
Looks like the ideal place to play with one.

So... out looking at whats available in the 4x4 and 6x6 class.
My current AATV is two pairs of Nike' size 9-1/2"

Not in a 6x6. You will stay dry. Worst is a slight mist when you drive in fast

When simple proper maintance is used there really isnt that much that goes wrong.

Keep us posted on your decision either way!

                • I have decided on the 6x6, but have no clue what to "look for" or "out for"!
I'm looking for something that will get me through sand, mussy lake bottom, cat-tails, tall lake grass and over/around some size able rocks.
Unit should still have new parts available, track capable is probably a must AND of course....water tight.

I have been reading through a ton of posts here, looking for the pro's and con's of the different units. Not sure I really understand it all....
Really the amount of info here is very mind boggling to say the least.

I have been looking at the classifieds also, I think a used machine from one of you guys would be the best place for me to start, since I have zero experience with ATV's.

I saw this on eBay today...

                      • Hello from Indy

new guy here in Indianapolis. Interested in these over the dirt bikes and 4 wheelers my friends have. I like the water aspect, I have watched the videos of guys racing these and they look like they can move. Want to find a project to fix up, I enjoy building and fixing things. Let me know what to look for and if you know of any reasonable projects in my area. Thanks!

Welcome aboard fordtc87. You will enjoy this site. Watch the site a lot of machines pop-up here and check the for sale forum. Hope you find you a machine and get it muddy.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

                            Welcome to the site.

If your up to it, take a spin up here and I have or have access to a few different machines you could try out. Or when you get one get a hold of me for some trail riding. Last machine I recall seeing near there was a terra tiger. It was a while ago and probably long gone. I'll try and keep and eye out for you. Good luck!!!

                            • Larry, I just might have to take you up on that. I cover western Michigan as part of my territory. Are there trails that are approved for the 6x6s in MI? My family has always snowmobiled the trails up there. In fact my Dad is from Gobles. We had the Kal-Haven trail right outside my Grandparents front window.

                              • Sweet, I use to haul feed to a Hog farm in Gobles.

The trail I ride are legal. Theres a couple spots near me. Including my parents who have 60 acres of woods/field with a pond and creek. Theres another spot in 3 rivers that Ive rode with a march, some hillls, few trails and lots of mud. There is also some mud trucks/quads and stuff there so its fun to just watch them get stuck where you just where playing, lol. Sometime this summer yet, group ride or not Im heading over to "the mounds" near flint. its a drive for you though. Ive been riding with a group of 3-4 of us. Lots of fun. More people the better. Just let me know when. If Im not working I can do it.

The state trails near baldwin have legal riding but its pretty flat long, plain jane trails where we can ride. It also legal for cars/trucks/buggies with orv's. The atv trails are to narrow and actually pretty narrow for a quad even. I found out after flying 10ft over my quads bars, lol. Was a slow motion like fly, landing on my shoulder and was ok. Its rutted badly and like riding in a groove but theres an occasional stump/rock that will rip the handlebars out of your hands quicker then.... It would just suck on an amphib.
