      • I have been looking at argo's for several years now and finally felt a little froggy and made the jump. I have bought a 2002 Big Foot and am still getting used to it. I am retired in South Arkansas and am an avid hunter in bottom lands that can get pretty swampy at times. I first motorized hunting transportation was a brand new honda 90 cc three wheeler that cost "$650". I don't ride for fun anymore, as I know the cost of repairs. My argo looks good, but I am sure there are some hidden maintenance and repair issues. I know that it needs a winch and ROP. Thanks for reading my ramblings and hope there are few of you that can have a little or a LOT of patience to put up with technology challenged redneck like me.

        • Hi boogarilla, welcome to the site and congratulations on your Bigfoot purchase. That should be a great 6x6 to take you into the swampy lands to hunt.

                • Hi everyone..... I just picked up a MAX IV that has a broken axle, runs but is going to need a some work. I'm hoping it will be a fun project, time to start reading threads, any advice or info on parts etc for replacing the axle would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the site. You could make your own axle out of 1 1/4" Chromoly and then cut your old hub off and weld it on. If you can't do it, you could have a machine shop do it for you. Whatever you do, NEVER deal with Richard Clark/Route6x6. He sells inferior quality parts at ridiculously high prices and his customer service is horrible. He has burned many people hobby and the best thing to do is avoid him. You could always go directly to the manufacturer for the axle. Amphibious Six-Wheel Drive All-Terrain Vehicles: MaxATVs - Call 1-800-255-2511 . This should be a great project......the Max IV is a great machine.

                    • Hello 6x6 Members! I have been watching this site for some time now and have enjoyed the forum and videos! I have always been into "projects" and have owned over 220 motorcycles and 4 wheelers in past years but recently have purchased a 1970 TT-18 Terra Tiger for a project vehicle. I realize that it has its limitations but for the private trail riding and ice fishing that I am into I think it might work out fine for my first 6x6. Looking forward to participating in the forum and getting some good tips on this TT. Thanks, John

                      • Hi John, welcome to the forums. Good luck with your Terra Tiger rebuild. Hopefully, if you hang around here long enough, we can get the number of six wheelers you own / have owned closer to the number of motorcycles.

                          • I have a chance to pick up a 1983 8x8 argo. The four of the tires are bad and I got a quote from argo for $150 each. Of course the new tires are 22x10x8. So can I use the other old 20x10x8's along with the new argo one's. This machine also comes with the plastic tracks. Are there any other tires out there that will swim like the argos and also work with my tracks? Can I use two different size tires with the tracks? Also, if I need parts how easy is it to get them? I know, lot's of questions but I'm new to this gig. Any information will help. Thanks.

                              • quadsquad and Gras, welcome to the forums. quadsquad, try starting a thread in the "Local 6x6 World Members" section of the forum and you should be able to find some fellow AATVers near you. Gras, there are a few threads discussing using different size tires so give the search a spin and check out what others have said. The short answer is that you will want all of your tires to be the same size. If you have additional questions just start a new thread in the Argo forum and someone should be able to help.

Again, welcome to both of you.
