Hi all, I started ridin 6x6's in 1975 when I purchased a Sears Sportster, sold that one to my brother a few years later and bought a brand new Attex 450 Tomahawk with tracks in 1980. I rode and worked that machine for at least 15 years. Then I sold it for some stupid reason! Anyway, last spring I had a Max Attack and picked up a used 1996 Max lV. the grandkids and I are having a blast with it! By the way, I'm in north central Ohio.

Hi everyone. A friend of mine told me I should check this site out after I spoke with him about buying a Pug CheTech. He explained that although most of your machines are amphibious, you guys wouldn't mind that mine can't swim. I love anything with an engine (←the stranger the better) and most things with a heartbeat. I chose the name Scarab because my wife says that "I have to much "STUFF" (←respectfully keeping the language out of the toliet) that I'm always rolling around with. . I have not been blessed with owning an amphibious atv but can see one in my future. I'm 41 and live in upstate NY with all of my other projects, loving life!

There are a few other Pug owners on the site too. If you're in upstate NY, you should come meet up with us up in the Buffalo, NY area and play with some of our toys. New folks are always more than welcome. There are quite a few members in the Northeast. I actually remember a CheTech Pug being for sale on Rochester Craigslist. Is there a chance that that's the one you bought? Welcome to the site and keep collecting those fun toys!"Looks like you have a problem with your 4 wheeler........you're missin' two wheels there"

Hi I am using this forum for the first time although I signed up awhile ago. I bought a used Argo in 1977, no idea what year it is ... any idea where to find that production date info? I initially installed a skidoo 440 engine but it was too noisy so I ended up storing the Argo until my family was grown. Now I am trying to restore it. Retirement is nearby so hoping to have the time to do this. I have a Honda 20HP engine but I am wondering can I just put a clutch off of a snow machine engine (skidoo) to serve the purpose? Although mechanically inclined this is new to me. I am in the process of removing all the axels this week - which appear to have shear pins. Would appreciate any references, articles to refer to, or advice on how to get to the point of getting the frame out of the Argo in order to sandblast and replace all of the bearings and sprockets and adjusters as needed. Thanks - Williemac (mira).

Welcome Mira,
Unfortunately a snow mobile clutch wouldn't work for you. I am guessing that your Honda has a 1" shaft and will require a 1" shafted 4 stroke clutch. The snow mobile clutches use a tapered shaft and engage at a much higher rpm than a four stroke runs.l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

Hi, I am new to this site but not to aatv's. I have owned a maxII which I bought new in 2001. I sold it about a year ago but have recently been getting the itch to get another one. I am thinking about maybe a used Argo 650HD. I live in Jackson Michigan, and I own about 10.75 acres with a cabin on it up near Kalkaska which is where I will use it the most.
I am also looking forward to going to some of the riding events at the various ATV parks. Those are a blast.
Anyway maybe I will meet some of you at one or more of the rides.

Greetings from Kansas. I'm new here. About 10 years ago I blundered into a Max II. It was Army surplus and a veteran of Desert Storm in 1991 and then some other limited government use since then is all I know about it, serial # is 8491. At the last minute I saved it from being dumped into a roll-off and hauled to the scrap yard. It has not been run since around 2005 from what I remember. Tires are still up is the only good news I can think of. If anybody has a ballpark figure on what it would take to get it running for occasional use on a farm, that would be helpful. Also, any other observations, opinions, etc. would be appreciated. No need to sugarcoat, if its best use is to stop ditch erosion, so be it! Thanks in advance...

River2406,
Welcome to the site. You should start a separate thread and post some pics of your diamond in the rough. Free is the best price to acquire machines at. Once we see a few pics, we can ball park a figure to run on, but I have seen builds done for $1000 or less and other people dump $4000 into a build. Tires are the biggest expense depending on if you need new engine or not. The transmission, chains, bearings, axles, sprockets, and what not can all be found relatively inexpensively if you do some searching and reading on here before you buy them.l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!
