Chain Life?

Yes I did call RI and talked with Jay. The factory is a little more expensive than Richards Relics. Apparently the Max II has more travel and adjustment than the Max IV on the adjusters. Jay said that usual wear allows 300 to 400 hours on the chains. Sand and silt can cause additional wear.

Currently my chains have the proper tension, and only one chain has the adjuster on its stop, so I still have some time before replacement. I will run it and watch it. I do know that I do not look forward to expensive chain and sprocket replacements every year.

I am scratching my head about what I can do different to ensure a longer chain life. I will research the arcives. I know that I have seen several posts about chain lube, care, and maintenance.

Got just over 200 hours on my 2007 MaxIV and find that it's just about time for chain replacement. I am out of adjustment travel and previous posts suggest that this is the time to call in an order for new chain. Suggestions welcome.

Is 200 hours an early death for 530 o-ring chains? I have lubed and cleaned their entire life, but have operated in dusty and sandy environments.

BTW: I did order new chains and idler sprockets at over $700 from Richard. I might postpone installation for a few months, but once the chains slack again they are done.

fuller did you check rec befor you called richard ? there is no telling how maney hr my max II has on it's chain i'd gess 300 t0 400 . robbie
