Roger ,
Yeah,,I was scratching my head over the tracks that the Argo Avenger was running in the last video I posted . I did not think the cleats of the factory argo tracks were that tall ? Thats why I was not sure what brand of tracks they were . Yes Roger,, I would love to try some Escargo tracks out on my Max IV ,but , as wide as the Escargo tracks are , it would really limit me in the places I like to take my Max .

Hey Mudbug, thanks for posting that up! Those 21" Goodyear Rawhides swim so fast! I'm helping a friend of mine put together a Max II with the 21" Rawhides and he will be very happy to see this video knowing that these tires move so quick in the water."Looks like you have a problem with your 4 wheeler........you're missin' two wheels there"

Yeah , I agree with you . Those 21,s really rip through the water . The only tires that will beat the water speed of the 21 rawhides , are the Argo Fronteer tires . A Max II with those tires on it , is REAL FAST in the water .But , for the average person who owns a 6x6 or an 8x8 , they are priced out of reach .

[QUOT jpswift1 ] Hey Mudbug, you sure are right about that! And besides being priced so high (you can buy 3 Rawhides for the price of 1 Argo tire.) I have talked to a lot of people that put huge gashes in the sidewalls of the tires the first time on the trails, and they dont allow the vehicle to skid steer very well, resulting in roll overs or very close calls.
Yeah , the real truth comes out over time . A lot of people seem to think these tires are the best thing since sliced bread , because of their great water speed . But to me , having fun in an amphib , means more than just how fast I can move across the water . I need a tire that sheads mud , gives me reasonable water speed to get where I,m going in the water , and last of all , tire durability . I,ve read several postings about people having tire punctures with the Argo fronteer tires . Plus , these tires are not durable enough for the price payed for them .Last edited by mudbug3; 07-03-2008, 02:11 PM.

Aren't you guys being a little rough on the 'ole frontier tires? The price is obscene, otherwise it's a good tire. I know some have punctured or slashed them, but I've seen them thrashed hard on several rides without problems.
It's not a failed design skid steer tire. Stick them on a maxII, relativly high centered and narrow wheelbase, raise it an inch, put it on hard pack surface, and then be surprised the thing wants to get tippy? How much better of a skid steer design could it be? It has no lateral traction feature. It's not for everybody, but a great addition to a short list of tires that work on aatv's. And what is this rave about how great the rawhide III is in the mud? A mud tread tire run backward so it'll swim is a lousy mud tire.To Invent, you need a good imagination and a pile of junk. Re: Frontier Tires..
I am one who had the sidewall puncture on the first ride... But, since then, I've had nothing but good times on them. I don't baby them either. I've been pretty impressed with the Frontier tires as a whole. We have decided that the puncture must have just been a fluke. I think I spun it into some rebar.
