  • Neat little car, too. Did actually get a chance to see one. Parked outside a Pizzaria near here. Sure doesn't look like any other electric car or even hybrid for that matter. Didn't get to look too much, didn't want an angry owner charging out thinking I'm up to no good

    • Whipper's videos inspired me to do a ride-a-long of my own. Don't expect quality or music, I don't know how to edit and my camera mount consists of duct taping a digital camera to the brim of my hat Hey, it works, sort of. The ride didn't end quite as I planned, I need tracks, or at least better snow tires I guess.

                • Very nice video, gives a totally different perspective. Too bad you got stuck at the bottom of that hill. Time to install a winch! I have a set of tracks available if you're interested.

                  • Yeah, I backed up and took a few more runs at it and got a little more than halfway but kept sliding sideways towards the edge so gave up and got the chains and come-a-longs. I do need a winch, (48 volts?), or tracks?
I'll shoot you a PM on the tracks.

                    • The duct tape worked great. I may have to try that sometime.

                      • Electric AATV

I've been toying with the same idea but batteries would be too heavy wouldn't they?
If you direct drive the electric motor off of a gas engine you just end up adding an electric motor and generator to what you already have. Engine, generator, tranny, etc. You might save a little in mileage but then how do you adjust the speed? You would need some complicated wiring (to me) to control the speed otherwise you would go wide open all the time.
I would think a golf cart battery on some type of small AATV would work but how much would something like that weigh?

                        • My setup weighs around 750 lbs and works great for me. If you don't want to read this entire thread you can check out the blog in my signature for the details.

                          • Use the search button and look for electric. There are plenty of posts detailing this: Here's the best one http://www.6x6world.com/forums/gener...6-wheeler.html

                            • JRP3, any updates on the performance of your six wheeler? Do you take it out much? Anything you've changed? etc. Just wondering how things are going.

                              • I'll second the questions and add, how long have you found the batteries to last per charge? This looks like an awesome project!
