Ok, the long term follow up on my chain tensioners is this:
Forget about doing the rear ones for now. They work well once in place, but the space is so tight they are too much trouble to mess with if you need to adjust them or repair stuff around them.
The front ones work great and are easy to install. Initially, I installed the front ones pushing up on the chain from cross-bracing that we welded in. As my chains stretched, I did not have enough adjustment room. So I installed them on the factory crossbracing located right in front of the sprocket. They now pull down on the chains. This works great and can be done without pulling the frame.
Some kind of rear adjuster is on my mind, just have not figured it out yet. As far as the drive chains, I am leaning towards buying some of the Snap-Idle tensioners like MudBug got.
Who is this guy whipper thats making the splined axles for you? Motion Industires is about 45min away from me would that be my best bet when it comes time to buy chains and sprockets are what to you'll do? I think I need to replace my axle seals as it seems I take on a decent bit of water after sitting in the pond for 15 min or so. IS this normal for these machines?

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"
