        stonewall,

Several forum members , including myself, now use the Flip Ultra for posting video,s on Utube. It takes really great video ,and its also Utube ready. As soon as you shoot a video , the flip gives you the option to share it directly to Utube. Its super easy. This is why so many people now use this mini camcorder for sharing their video,s on Utube.

          Been a while

Sorry I haven't been on in a while, stuff's been kinda crazy around here. I promise that I'll put up some videos soon, I had some made but when i put them on the computer, I found that my camera operator had a shaky hand... The machine's been doin great, I'm still a little weary of the deep water but it sure goes anywhere and I'm amazed at how maneuverable it is! I'll put up some videos soon!

Is it possible for the drums to slip inside the bands on the t-20?

I'm reviving my old thread because I'm having some transmission issues. I rebuilt the trans with parts from Recreatives(new bands, ring gear drum, bearings, seals and gaskets.) I don't ride it hard, but it never seemed to feel right. I noticed that over the past year, it has slowly leaked out it's fluid. I pulled it out 2 days ago, filled it up, and readjusted the bands, but it looks to me like the plungers aren't coming out as far as they should. The furthest out they come is flush with the trans case. I'm wondering if I did something wrong installing the bands and they aren't allowing the plungers to come out as far as necessary for the O rings to seal.

When you installed the bands did you find a sleeve on the long retaining pin? The sleeve spaces the bands properly and keeps the spiral tight. I just took apart a previously rebuilt trans and found one sleeve missing and the band spread apart. The plunger did not have the same position as the other 3 also.

I am 100% positive both of those spacers were put back on. It seems to me as though the bands I put on it are too short. Was the Hustler t-20 diferent from the current Recreatives model?

I have heard rumor (from what I consider to be a very reliable source) that on the newest of T-20's the bands are about a 1/4" shorter, and the plungers 1/4" longer, but I have never seen a T-20 newer than 1997 torn down so I can't say that I've actually seen it

So it's possible that new plungers will solve my leak problem?

I would call Recreative and ask for Jay. he would be able to tell you for sure about the length on the bands and plungers.

Well I talked to Jay this morning, and he said that the plungers have always been the same length, although the bands have varied in length slightly over the years. Flush with the case is where the plungers are suppost to sit pulled as far out as possible. He thinks that I may have torn an O ring on the plunger, or It's possible that the bore is damaged and if worst comes to worst, I'll have to get a new case. I'm going to take it apart tomorrow and see how bad it is.

Before you go buying a new case if in fact the bore is wanged (slang for it's all buggered up) the factory sold some sleeves made from aluminum that pressed in after the case was bored out. Maybe you have a machinist friend?

I might have somebody that can fix it for me, if that's my problem. Hopefully it's just the O rings, as it's only leaking from the plungers on the clutch side (I think only the bottom one but I'm not sure). Will know this weekend.
