  • sourcing parts for restoration.

I have torn down my 1995 Max4 to the hull. looks like i have solid axles, but all the sprockets and tensioner sprockets are ate smooth up. Some of the bearings feel rough. Im going to replace everything.. chains, sprockets, bearings. I was wondering if anyone has found other sources for bearings/sprockets. I have found the chain locally and the same shop is looking for the bearings. Any suggestions?

Btw are the sprockets on the T-20 easily replaceable? As in from the outside of the unit, not pulling any output shafts?

and.. the inner bearing flanges that bolt to the frame have no zerk fittings. Can you get some with that fitting on there?

There is a post that was right under yours mentioning another source for bearings here: http://www.6x6world.com/forums/max-a...ced-parts.html

Not sure on the sprockets. I bought mine directly from R.I. for my Max II. As for the T20 sprockets I don't think there is a way around removing the output shafts. Which means a total tear down unfortunately.

Maybe someone else will pop in here and confirm everything or help you out a little more.

        progress!

removed 4 outta 6 axels/bearings so far. Ordered bearings from buffalo (thanks mr swift for the info.) 15 for inner 17 for outer. got the last 6 . Now I need to source all the axle sprockets and idler sprockets. I suppose I could have them welded up. Anyone know a source is for the sprocket tubes ready to go besides recreatives? Im going to check with richards first. Im ready to get this puppy going again!

BTW anyone have some axle extension for sale out there? )

            Sprocket replacement

Hi Ducksmasher, i got a 1985 Vanguard and i just change a front sprocket this winter due to a broken shaft. Here i went to a machine shop and he was abble to find a place for sprocket

(flange sprocket= the only thing he need to replace is the machined flat sprocket wheel without the shaft that support it) My argo sprocket are made like this, i don 't know how Max's are made but it 's surely close enough to be abble to do the same. I save half of the price of a new one... The best man who can answer better than me is Whipper, he know and play a lot with Max shafts, bearing and spring!!!!!

            Hope it help...
            Martin
