  • That should be one bad-to-the-bone Max! Bridget, I love the SS name. You should get some Chevy SS emblems and place them on the car.

        • That bore and stroke would be an 18-20 hp block (20 has a 2 bbl). The 23 is same stroke with about .150" more bore dia. Heads and ports major difference in the 23. Same carb but bigger jets for the 23. You can spend $700 for carb mods from the guys I know. The last 10 or 15 hp gets expensive.

My idea for exhaust is 2 into one. Gives more midrange torque with same top end if built right esp collector. I would follow the harley pipe builders, and make the rear pipe longer to delay the pulse into the collector for the 90 degree twin. That's what I have in mind next time I build something.

Have you talked to Al about the flywheel? Is it stock, does he have concerns about spinning it 6-7000. Thinking about the attex.. and mine.

I lightened the weights in my engine clutch a little, recently. Turned out nice, moved the rpms up a couple hundred across the cvt range.

I use a lead octane booster out of Utah that is the real deal, if you ever have the need. A quart will turn 10 gallons of 91 octane into 100+. The low lead aviation is nice but the quart is easy for travel or long trips.

Congrats on the engine! His $325 roller rockers are nice. I consider them men's jewelry, precious metals.

            • If Al is comfortable with stock vanguard flywheels that's comforting. Some of the smaller briggs engine's flywheels come apart all too easily when revved up, like the lawn mower engines, and probably older models. The lightweight aftermarket wheels let the engine rev quick on a drag bike or racing mower. But our heavy atv's need the weight of the stock wheel. They are heavy! I think a light wheel in your attex pre springer would have been interesting. But they have no imbedded magnets for the vanguard charging system which is sort of a deal breaker.

Still, we need some armor between body and wheel.

                  • as usual

A Frontier owner needs to lend you tires and wheels for a weekend test drive/swim. Good sand tire, too.

Next video with an Al Hodge engine? That's gonna put a smile on Bridgett's face. She may not come home for a couple days.

                        • whipper,
question , I can see the SS parts making a little extra weight is why it sits a little deeper but it seemed that it was also a little more "tippy or rocky" was that just the alusion for the camera ?
