from what al hodges told me its a high torque aftermarket..
im not sure what it cost, it was part of the rebuild..so i guess
for 4 k you get the engine too..
When you don't use the stock cam which has a compression release built in, the light duty starters won't/may not turn the engine over. Briggs makes a "real" starter for commercial applications where an engine has to start under a load, like a fluid pump. There is also a china copy of these high torque starters, at least for the small block vanguards. They normally don't work with the 14-23 hp stock flywheel ring gears.
Did Al give you the pile of left over parts, I see at least $500 there.
To Invent, you need a good imagination and a pile of junk. (Thomas Edison)
Outstanding WFO! Loved the pictures and the engine looks great Now we need a video of it the first time it starts.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"
i dont think i get those parts..i guess if i did i would e-bay them..
heres some more pics of GOLIATH, got the body on today, cut some tubing
off the cage and painted it, probably will put cage on tomarrow
been busy lately with the redline and waiting for parts for GOLIATH..
so here are some pics of setting up the header and pipe..the tubing i got locally
and some of the tubes i made using my tubing bender to get a better radius..the
collector and pipe are made by cone engenering, the guy mike is
very helpfull..new everything i didnt..the pics of the upper and lower control
arms are of setting toe-in and a dry fit before axle and shocks are installed..makes
it easier for at least a starting point, whipper said their will be a settle in period
and eveything will move some..the washers are for the clutch clearence so it
dosent hit the block the one on the left is an R.I set up and the other was made
by whipper, notice the chamfer so it will clear the crank shaft radius..and of course
a GPS bracket.. going to add camera mounts at the back so i can keep an eye
out for whipper and GODZILLA behind me...
10/10/10 WONT HAPPEN AGAIN UNTIL 11/11/11...
well been hard at it again past couple of days..started setting up
the suspension had some minor issues but quickly overcame that...
i have alot of pics so here goes..the first pics are trying to get the
front shocks on..the fronts are heavier duty than the rears..they
were a beeotch..
more pics...FINALLY ROLLED GOLIATH OUT...WOW
finished up the header..stabed the 42 H.P AL HODGES ENGINE
and bounced around on the suspension..FEELS AWESOME
That looks incredible. Everything came together very nicely. From the beadlock wheels and tires to the roll cage to the suspension and the Al Hodges motor.
