  • Scrambler question

Hi , Im new to this ,hope Im in the right spot . I just started rebuilding a 1969 Scrambler 1100 and what fun! Most of what I have learned is from this great website, everyone seems very helpful . I am stuck on a couple things tho , I need to replace the large heavy spring that is in the Salsbury series 500 driven clutch and I am missing one of the brake springs ,it is about 15/16 OD 3/4 ID and 2 3/8 long. wire sze is .080. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. If anyone would like to know where I have located bearings , seals, friction material anything else , feel free to email me and I would be glad to share . Thanks to all. JTW

Take a close look at this: http://www.6x6world.com/forums/other...bler-body.html
The Scrambler transmissions tended to be more troublesome, and lacked reverse. A few out there had an electric motor for reverse, but it really was only good for backing off a trailer or out of the garage.
Older MaxII's are pretty plentiful, and the t-20 transmission, 1 1/4" axles etc. would really improve the old scrambler.

Check this link and see if you can id the spring you need.
A manual for your Salsbury variable speed torque converter that details the different clutches along with assembly procedures.

Im sure someone has a used one sitting around....
I have a couple old clutches on a shelf for parts if you can id it.

Try Richard's Relics. Route 6x6 on the web. He has extensive parts inventory and will answer your questions. I have three Scramblers myself but they are all going to get extensive drive train modifications.

Unless you're looking to pay way too much for the Scrambler parts, don't deal with Richard Clark/Route6x6. Try posting a wanted ad here on 6x6World. I'm sure there will be someone out there with what you need because the Scrambler is a very common machine and there are lots of parts out there for them.
