    Thanks Sonny,

I appreciate that a great deal I think I'll be adding a breather of similar fashion very soon along with a pump/cooler setup as my transmission gets very very hot...spit on it...bubbles n fizzes hot! TFH in other words!

riotwarrior....I am missing the breather on my trans, but here is a pic of where I think it goes. Vent.jpg

Thank you for that link, now I understand how this trans works. I got my engine running after work today, and the trans seems to work when moving the control levers, the one track actually moves the machine.

If doing one of them...do both with NEW O rings...then you KNOW they are both done! That's what I did for my six wheeler...

Hope the video and my build thread was of some assistance.

Your post of the breather shows me it's a common style of cap and I'll just get one locally or on fleabay LOL That will alleviate any PUKING of the trans.

I'd consider a cooler for the transmission btw. I've got one all lined up and darn near ready to install on the engine and I'll add the engine oil cooler as well...capped then I can plumb it at a later date!

Good luck with the control rebuild they are simple however different from mine but close to same.

Keep us posted with lots of pics!

            Thanks for sharing!

You are very welcome, it's a pleasure to help here as I've gotten lots of suggestions so nice to be able to provide some myself for a change!!

Get a plug or some type of breather into that ASAP that is open and exposing the internals to contamination as a bearing is right behind that cover.

I see you have a transmission temperature gauge in the middle fill port. Good idea and I may just do so with mine. However I'll have to T into that port as I've got a cooler installed right now. These transmissions get really quite warm so I'm going to be going with Amsoil Multi car ATF once I get a filter installed into the cooler/pump setup. I feel that would be best case for the machine IMHO, as it is in a tub so they get warmer than I anticipated it would. Spit on it n sizzle hot really Sizzle!

Good luck with it and please keep us posted I love these old machines...they are terrific. I'd be happy to get one of those Ridge Runners.
