I think Don may be referring to me and the Warthog. If things work with my schedule as I hope I might be there Sat night. As Don said it best I'm taking it day by day

          Joe,

The Warthog is what I call my Hustler Racer.

Here are some pics, but I think you saw it at Phillipsburg:

Mike's machine flat out flies. Here's a pic in front of our house soon after he put in the 503.[IMG][/IMG]

            (6) Attex, a Hustler, a Super Swamp Fox, (2) Tricarts, (3) Tri-sports, a Sno-co trike, 3 Dunecycles, and a Starcraft! ...so far

I would think the longer chassis gives it a edge around corners. The weight is a disadvantage. Then again the Blackbird is hauling my fat @ss around. Now if I had a teenage son about the size of Q driving the Bird?? On second thought, Nope not a good Idea. See you all in a couple of weeks.

NOT going to let Q see this! 'Don't want to give him any more ideas.

                Two weeks! Holy Mackerel!

I spoke with Bud Fischer today for a little bit and he was very excited about the event again this year. Let me try to pass along what he said to me: Ashtabula and surrounding areas have had record rainfall over the past couple of months and the track is just now getting dry enough to work on Bud said it doesn't need a lot of work to get it back into shape so that's not a big deal. He is finishing that this week and then he is going to clear some of the trails where trees have fallen and bring that wood to the campsite for everyone to use as they wish.

The rain was so bad over the past two months that the bridge over the creek on the entrance road (Maple Road) was washed away a while back. Luckily, the new replacement bridge looks like it will be finished by next week so it shouldn't pose a problem. If you get there and the bride happens to still be closed, you will have to go around and enter from the other side of Maple Road. Just check out a map before you go so you have an alternative plan if necessary.

This year Bud has gotten two food vendors to attend so there should be things to eat for lunch and supper. He is also going to close his bike shop that weekend so that he can be at the track the entire time. For those of you showing up a day or two early, if nobody is there to let you in, call Bud at his shop and let him know you are there. He will come let you in. The number there is 440-997-4166. Bud said that he still plans on letting everyone have the track on Saturday to practice and then the races will be on Sunday. He will make up the classes on Saturday night depending on how many people show up and he will take your input on which classes to have so speak up on Saturday and let him know what you want.

This should be another fun year. Unfortunately, unless something changes, it looks like another fun year that I won't be able to make it. Outside of not being able to enjoy the races myself, I'm more disappointed that I will not be able to capture any video of the event again. If any of you know a decent (and reasonably priced) videographer in the area, please PM me their information. Last year I tried to get a friend of a friend to video it but that fell through at the last minute. I would like to get complete video of the entire race.

                    There you go!

Now that a lot of you are veteran racers, watch out for those rookies. They could be trouble.

                    • Hope you make it, Mike & Jen. It's only a half a day's drive away for you. Everything might work out.

I was going to spill the beans on some of you veteran guys to help the rookies, but then I thought... nah. They've seen the videos.
Hope you're all ready. No DNF's!!!!!

Say Hi to Bud & Bill for us & have a blast making another memory.

No DNF's, now that's raising the bar isn't it. I know I'm busting my but to get finished. So much that the neighbor started screaming at me for the air compresser running for a few hours straight after work today. She'll have to deal with the noise for he next week because I'm praying to not have a DNS (did not start).
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

                        • Gerber's checking in!

My family and i should be there saturday afternoon. We have yet to pull the racer out, but this weekend should be enough time to dust it off and sort out any issues. I should be racing, not sure about Jim, he was still having engine trouble last i talked to him.

Looking forward to another fun year!

                              • If that doesn't get you excited for next weekend, I don't know what will. Your pictures always capture the moment perfectly and it was good to see those again.
