It was a long drive for me to get there, but it was well worth it. Any time you can leave the house and ride amphibs with other people that own them,, its always good.

Looks like yall had a blast. Wish I could have made that trek myself. It looks as if each machine had its strengths and each driver did a superb job of negotiating that muck.

On the 1.55 min. video of Dan's I was wondering if the split shift would of helped at all ???? HMMMMM
Dave that's some great video's all of you took that's for sure. Next year I hope to be out there with all of you in HOGWILD!!!!!!!!

I used my split shifter many times that day, thats for sure. Being able to counter rotate in the water is so much easier than trying to skid steer in it. Split shifting also worked great in the very soupy mud, but not in thick mud. Thats when the belt would start to squeal. A hydrolic Mudd-Ox would have handled this mud with no problem at all. In fact,,if I,d been driving a Mudd-Ox 8x8 that day with eight ASX tires,, I would,nt have gotten stuck in the mud I was in. Hoping to have one soon though with eight ASX tires on it. That will be one bad boy,, thats for sure. I have eight ASX,s , just no Mudd-Ox to put them on.

That full-length mud skirt with the rear flaps that you built for your rig is a great idea! How much of a hassle is it to put on & take off, or do you leave it on all the time? Do you happen to have any pics of the fabrication and/or install? I was considering something like that myself when I get my "new" Max IV home this coming weekend.

Also, would you post some (clean?) pics of your machine with the ASX tires on? I am looking at some alternate tires for mine, (just put up a thread about Carlisle 12" Mud Wolfs in the tire sub-section), and the ASX is what many are talking up. You seem to be one who's tried many brands/styles, so I'd value your input.

Mud flaps

That full-length mud skirt with the rear flaps that you built for your rig is a great idea! How much of a hassle is it to put on & take off, or do you leave it on all the time? Do you happen to have any pics of the fabrication and/or install? I was considering something like that myself when I get my "new" Max IV home this coming weekend.

Harry the mud flaps stay on all the time. I absolutely love them but I can't take credit for them. They Are an exact copy of Fullavaitions MaxIV. The side and back are very strong very durable conveyor belt materail bought at tractor suppy store. (expensive but worth every penny).They work absolutely great and I think they make the max look better. Don't waste your time with other tires, if you can find a set of ASX tires BUY THEM! You'll need a wheel spacer to move the tires out at least 1/2" (mine are 1 1/2 inch) ASX tires are becomeing very hard to find and anyone who owns a set is not going to sell them. My tires drew talk and activity everywhere i have been with them. They make they Max look really mean and there performance speaks for itself. These tires PULL!!!!!

In the 1st video Mudbug (David) posted he stopped the camera, climbed into my Max and drove my machine out of this mud hole. In all of these videos when Lee and I were stuck we were hung up on a tree or a root under the water that you could feel but not see. In pure mud situations without roots our machines were almost unbeliveably good in this mud. I must admitt that I was totally blown away by how my ASX tires pulled in the mud. Is was like driving a freight train. The tires just never seemed to lose traction and pulled me out of situations I thought I would never make.[

I checked the Interco website and it looks like the ASX tires are only in 12" - is this what you're running?? I am looking for 9" skins to wrap arouind a set of Matt O.'s beadlock rims. My back is pretty messed up and the taller sidewall tire height for 9" wheels are what I need.

Interco has a tire called the S.S. TSL that looks very similar and is sized in 25x13.5-9 which would be exactly what I'm looking for. In your opinion are these TSL tires close enough to the ASX skins that you have, or are they a different animal altogether??

P.S. Where did you pick up the wheel spacers?

This is the third rendering of the same video file ,so this is why the visual clarity looks this way. Dan,s ASX tires were VERY impressive in this thick , soft mud. I was amazed when I drove Dan,s MaxIV and experienced how easy the ASX tires pulled through mud like this. If Dan could not drive through a mud hole with his ASX tires, we knew it was really bad! A Goodyear Terra tire ,or even the new Argo , 25 inch , Frontier tire ,would not have been the tire choice for the mud that we ran into that day.
