iF YOU HAVE AN OLD PAIR OF NEEDLE-NOSE PLIERS, TAKE THEM TO A GRINDER AND JUST ROUND THE TIPS. IF THE RING IS AN INTERNAL RING, THEY SHOULD WORK FINE. IF IT'S EXTERNAL, YOU'LL HAVE TO PULL THE PLIERS OPEN. ALSO, IF IT'S EXTERNAL YOU CAN SPREAD IT OPEN WITH A SCREWDRIVER AND REUSE IT IF YOU ARE CAREFUL.
It's all just nuts and bolts.

Is the snap ring holding the clutch on or is it holding the drum/bell cover thing(whatever its called) on the clutch???

Are you trying to get the clutch off the crankshaft? I'm assuming you already took out the bolt that goes in the end of the shaft. look in the hole and see if there is a keyway. If there isnt, you have a tapered shaft and all that is holding the clutch on now is the wedging affect caused by the tapers. If there is a keyway, you have a straight shaft. If the cltuch isn't moving atall, you are probably going to need a puller. Some auto parts stores loan/rent them out.

                                Hi:
Those are snowmobile clutches, so if your on a real budget, you could try a local sled shop and they should be able to yank it off for you for a nominal fee (if they're not buisy, possibly free) Otherwise you need to get a clutch puller, if you try to do it without the propper tools, you can easily break the clutch, it's aluminum.
