    Jersey,
No I don't have a T between the pump and the carb. Looking at the tank, there was no place to even run the line back in that was plugged or plated. I'm assuming something was actually stuck in the line. I didn't see it but it must have cleared when I pulled the fuel filter off.

    Larry,
I always seem to have to choke it full for a second and then it fires right up on half choke. When I was studying the manuel I figured out that the choke should actually hit the throttle on the carb and fully open it when the choke is all the way pulled. If you tee your line and put in another petcock in the tank, let me know if there is a difference. I'm not sure it will be worth splitting and resealing the tank, but if something amazing happens like easy idling I would consider it.

I had a case a with an 1990 argo some years ago with varnish clogging the filters and float needle after treating the fuel tnk with dry gas. Old machines and fuel always seem to have issues.

Well, the gas stopped flowing yesterday before I could even get it to the yard. I dropped the tank, pulled the petcock and drained it completely. What I found was little curly varnish strips inside. I cleaned the tank best as possible, and replaced the in tank line. I had already removed the screen from the intake pick up line, but those pieces of varnish looked perfect to clog the holes in the brass fitting. I brief shopping trip found no in tank screens anywhere local. I used a cheepo plastic inline filter, heated up a razor blade, and cut the inlet line off down at the bottom of the filter part. This left me an exposed screen and an outlet line. As this is a plastic piece, floating was a concern. I utilized a big old bolt to hold the line on my new pick up screen and to weight the pick up line down. We will see how it goes from here. My next step will be to tear the carb apart again and check all the jets for varnish. I'm hoping it will just work now, but with my luck, probably not.

I ended up tearing the carb down and putting it back togethor. She seemed to be running good. I only drove it around the yard for about 15 minutes, but the ony issue was the engine cover getting too hot. I almost melted it. Oops. Well I guess it's time to put a focus on finding a good exhaust. At least she sounds mean now.

Well I finally got some motivation and a nice sunny day to knock out some work on the tomahawk. I reinstalled my rear axles, one with a rebuilt sprocket assembly thanks to evil8x8 and a new sprocket on the other side. I adjusted the valves, put on the new quite muffler, and mounted the last 2 tires on the rims. I'm having a little trouble getting them all to seat properly, but after all they are used tires on old rims that I cleaned up. After I get them seated, I need to throw then on and test her out. At least I feel like I'm in a good place to finish it up for busco. Fingers crossed it will be on the trails in a feww short weeks.

Here's a video of the engine running with the new muffler on it.

Should be race ready for June! Glad your up and going.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"
