I have a belt off one of the sleds...it measures 1"....the old belt was 7/8 so I think it will work....I have a different primary (the one that actually belongs to the vehicle) The PO had mounted it on the 10 horse briggs 4 stroke (and he said it wouldn't move very fast.....go figure) so I pulled that clutch from the Briggs, and it's a 2 stroke clutch, so I'm good there.....now I just have to get the clutch off the 440 and switch them up..the ratio might be ok because the T-Boss only has 18" tires...I'm gonna hook it all up and see what happens...if I can get a decent speed out of it and it pulls good....I'm good to go!!!

Sal, why don't you use the comet clutch that is on the cat motor? It looks like the salsbury has been cobbled up to fit the 4 cycle engine.

The secondary in the machine uses a 7/8 belt where the Cat clutch uses a 1-3/16 belt...I figured the engine would be doing about 5 grand before it would engage...so I desided to use the Salsbury clutch assuming it would fit...but it didn't and now I'm back to square one...finding a clutch that uses a 7/8 belt and fits my Kaw 30mm crankshaft....

how about switching out the driven clutch for a big belt one. I would think someone on here would have a used one to fit the T20

My machine is unique...lol...it is supposed to have twin transmissions in it....someone re engineered it to fit the T-20 but they put the driven on a floating shaft so it's always centered...but the shaft is 3/4 inch...I was figuring on it being a straight forward swap over for the Comet....the 6 tower Cat clutch had a cracked tower on it...and when it "popped" off the shaft it hit my vise and broke it off....so the clutch is junk....the other clutch I have can you tell me what it is?

This is the clutch I'm wondering about....

Here is how my machine is laid out....

it looks like an old cat clutch, like the hex type only no hex bushing. I missed on what machine you have. can't tell by pic. is it a trail boss ?

I think you could use the wider belt on the secondary ... It would open when you put the belt on. If it cant open wide enough the high speed ratio will be lower.

I have an Arctic Cat belt that looks new...it measures 1", I was gonna use that with the Salsbury clutch....but...lol....anyway I have two other clutchs but I have to get them off the parts engines...
                    This one....

                    or this one....

I just don't know what they are....anybody have any educated guesses???

The first one looks like a hex clutch and is the one i would use.
Is the part where the belt rides hexagonal?
The second looks like a comet 94c or salbury 770 but its hard to tell.
When you get them off look for id on the backside.
