I would love to have a set of the 14 inch wide Vendettas on my Frontier 8x8 and get the smooth ride, swim speed and track like mudding ability they would offer me on an 8x8.
    Hi Dan,
The wheel base on your Argo is 26.3 inches. The 14" Vendetta tires are very close to a full 26 inches tall. We do have a lot of Vendetta tires on Argo's. Tim at Adair has designed a set of Adair tracks to specifically run on a Argo Avenger with 26x14x12 Mudd-Ox Vendetta tires and has great success.

    • I'm really happy with my 16" Vendettas as they are holding up great. By now we've read all the good characteristics of them, ride, traction, and swimming ability but what I like best is the way they "wrap" around obstacles providing better grip. They're kind of like little rolligon bags. Ive been told by fellow riders behind me that when I go over say a rock the size of your fist or so it just disappears instead of bouncing over it. I was a little concerned at first about the shallow tread but that's the science behind them. They hold the mud and keep you afloat rather than dig down untill bellied out. Just a satisfied customer given credit where it's due.
What it lacks in ground clearance it makes up for with traction.

      • Thanks for all of the replies. TBone, I think you are running 16" wide tires on a machine that is almost identical to mine. Are you running them on 3" extensions? How are the clearances? Keith's post saying that 14" tires only left 3/4" clearance to the bearing rails on 4-1/2" extensions has me a little concerned.

        • I'm running 3" extensions because that's what I had. Could easily get by with 2". I'm not running the bearing rails either. I would recommend taking the rails off and keeping the wheels in as close as possible if you're going to just run tires. The Vendettas skid steer real nice n easy on the machine, no need for the rails unless you plan on running tracks.

          • That's good info. I currently run 3" extensions because I got the factory track package (16" tracks). I really want to try the 16" Vendetta's for the floatation on soft stuff. The tracks are great, but they are a bit of a pain and don't swim at all. It definitely helps to have someone with a similar machine who has already forged the path.

            Thanks again.

            • Akcrawler, here's a picture of the clearance from the back at the narrowest point with the 3" spacers. Happy to help.

              • Thanks Tbone. It looks like there is plenty of space. Thank you for the post. I have ordered my tires/rims and can't wait to get them on the machine so I can start playing! I'll post pics when I get them installed.

                • I got some of the 26x16x12's last week. The local MuddOx Distributor only had 4 in stock. I couldn't make myself wait so I put them on the corners and took it out for a little test drive. I'm liking them so far...

                  • I think I would have done the same thing. I hope your two others show up soon. They look great.

                      • That's what I thought. Those old wheels/tires always seemed a little under-sized, but I never thought of them as tiny until I saw them next to the new ones. I am fired up about trying to run the swamps on tires, instead of tracks, this summer.

                        • I finally got the other two installed. I am looking forward to getting out and shaking them down in early June. I would have gone around the house, but ran out of time! Life has a way of getting in the way sometimes.

Those Vendettas really make a Max4 look good, I must admit there is a set coming to me in the immediate future.

                              • Has anyone had experience with these in the snow? I'd love to ditch the tracks, as much as possible, for snow. Regardless, I'm ordering a set of the 14" wide ones and has anyone tried these without any spacers? I read this entire thread just now and wow... lots of info, and drama. Anyway, there was 1" and 2" spacer recommended. I'll be buying the wheel/tire combo so the offset that these wheels have would matter, so your input would be awesome.
