Fred,
Have you checked the diode wire between the coils? If the diode failed your engine can be running on only one cylinder.
Thanks Mike for the advice. It turned out to be the coils. Old age and the new technology of the e3 plugs, played at part in my coil going dead. I took a coil off of a spare 18 vanny, and immediately, the problem was fixed. 6000 revolutions per minute on a freshly built SuperTrapp exhaust makes beautiful music. I might do what admin Mike did, and take over my wife's MaxIV, lol!!!
Again, thanks for the advice.

Funny that you said that! I rebuilt my Hustler and she was favoring it a lot,, she always wanted to kick me out of it. Now that I her Max IV is a fresher build, and faster, with a single seat,, I may not ever get behind the sticks. Hummmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!! If I put a bigger engine in the Hustler,,, maybe she will favor the Hustler and leave the Max IV to me????? Naw,, I doubt it!!!! I'll figure something out

CAM00150.jpgCAM00151.jpgI just got back from a trip to Houston Texas a couple of hours ago, while I was gone my 16 inch Vendettas arrived via UPS, my son picked them up at the UPS terminal yesterday, as I soon as I got home the Argo tires came off and the 16" Vendetta tires went on. The tires are beastly looking and look as if they will go anywhere. My Max with spacers and the Vendettas sets almost 63 inches wide and has more ground clearance then I had with the Adair tracks. Will they beat out the tracks? I doubt it but it will be fun testing them. Tomorrow I will be at the Big Nasty ATV park mud and swamp testing the MaxIV and the 16" Vendettas. Any one in the area is welcome to meet me and run through every nasty mud hole and swamp area we can find. Yes of course , video will follow. The second photo has 16 inch Vendettas on the left, Adair 16 inch tracks on the right.
Dan those new 16 inch ,Vendetta tire look HUGE sitting next to the those Argo tire. Really looking forward to your Big Nasty video's and how this new tires performs in the mud conditions there.

Are the Argo tires 22's,24's or 25's? Look like 24's?

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
Joe Camel never does that.
Your going to big nasty tomorrow,? let me know if you want some company, I'm really interested in those vendettas. I haven't taken my max 4 there yet, it's only about 30min from my house. Norm..
16 inch Vendedatta tires at the Big Nasty ATV park
Okay so I admit it, I have been spoiled by Adair tracks. The mud conditions at the Big Nasty were the worse I have ever seen. The best video didn't get taken because my son and I were shifting weight and rocking the Max to get through some awful mud. The Max Shod with Vendetta tires went everywhere I normally go with tracks but man did we have to work for it.
After spending a day with the 16 inch Vendettas here's what I learned:
1. They don't swim as well as the 14" tires. My best guess for the 16" tires is 2 MPH in water. IF YOUR LOOKING FOR SWIM SPEED GO FOR THE 14" TIRES.
2. They are the best trail tire I have ever had on the Max. They ride extremely well and I was able to run the Max wide open on some pretty bad trails with a very good ride.
3. They are extremely tough, I ran over cypress knees, logs, and tree stumps all day long. THESE TIRES ARE TOUGH. I ran them at 1 1/2 PSI and you are not going to knock a bead off your rim with these tires and rims.
4. They will climb any thing! I have never had this kind of traction with any other tire on the MaxIV.
5. They are better then excellent in soft mud without water. Low PSI keeps them on top of the mud! My son and I walked through muddy areas that stuck two lifted quads with Outlaw tires without an issue. The Max made this area look like a non issue. I am sure the quad boys were upset with how easy we moved through bad mud.
6. These tires will back out of anything. My son and I spend a lot of time walking up a muddy swamp creek where no other vehicle could move. We were in pure black mud to the top of the tires. We were moving, but moving very slowly. When I got tired of fighting the mud I put the machine in reverse and backed out of it.
7. Traction-I have never had a tire on the Max with this much traction. My son and I spent about a half hour moving down a muddy swamp creek. The trees got to close together to move any further. I moved through a swampy muddy area covered with vegetation knocking over several trees and pushed down bier thorn bushes that came to the top of my roll bar. I couldn't believe we could move in this mess. I have never had this kind of traction available in the Max.
8. My over all evaluation: If you want a swimmer, get they 14 tire. I believe the 14" tire would be better for most swamp and mud conditions, however the 16" tire pulled us through several areas of pure mud that would have given any other tire and AATV combination cat fits.
If you will go to 8:57 mark on the video and check the mud at the right front tire, what looks like a simple mud hole was always black swamp mud that built up on both sides of the tire and was difficult to move in.
Nice review Dan. I can't access the video for some reason though. It's 8 deg F here this morning so I can't do any swimming. I was wondering if you had a chance if you could throw your spacers on and try swimming. I have noticed that the water gets thrown to the sides with these tires and was wondering if with the tires mounted close to the body if it is unable to escape. Just a thought. Looks like I will drop from 3psi to 1.5. Thanks for the tip.
Keith.
