There are about 5 trails that meet and cross each other at various points ( one is isolated across the lake " North Trail". I will post a link). There are a number of Cutlines that cross the trails, some go to Wellsites, some go into oblivion. There is one trail I've only traveled once in the summer, it's a nasty piece of work. I'm one of only a handful of guys that have even tried it, that I know of. It's a great way to go in the winter, but when I did it in the summer I kept hearing a voice in my head..... " WHAT are you doing here? Don't go in there? Are you fricken crazy? This is no place to be traveling with only one machine, don't, not that way, nooooo, Ahhhhhhhhh". I've been meaning to try it again over the past couple yrs, but nobody really wants to go with me

As for a group ride, that's something I think about alot. It would be a big deal, there are sooooo many things that could go wrong. Most people here are looking for the easiest way to the lake, not like the people onthis site that actively look for the worst trail possible, lol. There are a # of members that I would love to invite them for such a trip, but the vast distances that would have to be covered make it unlikely.
If you or other members are ever in the area though, please feel free to look me up.

Awsome video Doc, it's a shame you are so far away, but I think someday you will see some of us up there,it's just not right to let you have all the fun up there. I would love to go "in there", I'd bring a pound of beef jerky, fishing pole, 20 cases of beer, and enough gas to last....about a month. If it was fall,I would trade the jerky for my rifle and a moose tag.
Hey, are those TRACKS I see on your rig?????????

Are you allocated a quota for moose then ?? Do you have to buy the tags, or just apply, how's it work ?

Over here for deer, if you have permission from landowner and it's in season you just shoot them. Most landowners charge a hefty sum though. Same with wild boar, only with them the landowners (usually farmers) whinge like hell about them destroying crops (and then probably apply for compensation) then they want to charge you the earth to shoot them ???

Last time I checked wild boar were on average £200 per day or night whether you got one or not. If you got one they then charge you the going retail price for the meat (on top of the £200)
This is effectively for vermin, something the farmers want gone !!

Woh, wasn't expecting this, when I resurrected this thread, lol. Glad you guys enjoyed the vids, lol.
My intent was just to show the pic of my buddies new tracked rig and didnt want to start another "Adair Tracks" thread :-)
        Anyway:
Yes Fox those are tracks on the conquest, that's my daughters rig. They impressed me enough that I bought a set of the Pro Belted tracks for my conquest too. I couldn't keep up with the kids :-)
My biggest fear of asking any of you guys to join me on a "trip" would be that the weather would not cooperate. That would suck to make plans, travel across the country, just to ride in a thunderstorm for a week.

Rodp. In my location, most game animals are "Open Season", if you are a licences hunter, you can buy a tag. Normally one tag for each game animal. Of course you must hunt in season, and in an open area. Some animals, like grizzly and bison are on a draw system. Hunting season is from August to November (mostly). Some animals are no closed season and no bag limit (shoot em if you see em). Most hunting is on public property, I can toss a rifle into my Argo, and be hunting within 10 minutes of my driveway. Tags for moose/elk ect are about 26$, no tags required for coyote/wolf, ect (no closed season or bag limit either).
For fishing, just buy a licence and follow the regs. Most fish are open, some have seasons, and size limits, but nothing too harsh.

I can help you with that, gather all the grass clipping from your area, throw it all in a pool, add a bit of water, and let it rot into a brown goopy soup. Toss in a couple flats of rotten eggs and mix it all up. When you get that nice Hydrogen Sulphide smell, kinda mixed with Sulpher Dioxide, you have it right :-)

Alberta Rider, we should talk sometime :-)

You nailed it RD, just forgot to add the 2.2 billion Mosquitos and noseeums! Sorry for poaching the thread, but when I seen the loaded Argo I couldn't help getting the need to go fishing "now" infection.
Back on track (pun intended ), you run some pretty heavy loads PLUS pull a trailer! Does this pose any increased risk of walking out of a track when the machines start to work hard? I plan on pulling my boat in this year so it doesn't have to ride up on the ROPS which tends to sag the corners of my main tub on the Argo, plus I'm quite top heavy for those " crawling" out of the skeg hole moments....I get real twitchy about then.

I do believe that as the load increases, so does the possibility of walking out of the tracks. Increasing tire pressure helps to some extent, but that makes the ride rougher. The only true way to stop the machine from tossing a track, is to A) Run quality tracks B) Keep tracks properly adjusted with correct tire pressures C) Pay attention when maneuvering over terrain that is likely to encourage the tracks off the machine.

People, people, lets not forget the Deer flys and Horse flys, those buggers don't take a sip from ya, they take a chunk

                  As for the smell.....
I have to wear a multi head gas detector at work, and sometimes when traveling through that stuff my monitor will start screaming at me "High H2S" (Hydrogen Sulphide), and High Gas levels (Methane), always in the lower explosive limit but it gets your attention fast.

high gas levels are usually accredited to over consumption of molson export.

Thanks for the info, so you can just go out onto public land and shoot coyote / wolf etc then ? No permission or ticket / tag ?

You don't know how lucky you are. Over here shooting is only allowed on private land, and then with direct permission from the land owner (they like written). If you look at the number of gun owners (it applies to air rifles also) and then the amount of land available you'll soon see a permission is like gold dust.
If you just go out and shoot on public land it's supposed to mandatory 5 years in prison for firearms offence, or, for an air rifle at the very least they would confiscate your gun and give you community service (this is for an adult)

Having said that, we don't have to put up with swamps, mosquitoes, snakes, wolves, bears etc so it's 6 of one and half a dozen of the other.

Correct, but don't get the idea that its all "Wild West", and "Shoot anything that moves", you need a hunting licence or a firearms licence (there are training courses for each..... Not hard courses, but it's something).
It's actually very rare to hear a local say they are going out wolf/coyote hunting. Mostly it's just guys wanting a moose or elk to fill the freezer.
I rarely ever bump into another human when I'm out hunting or target shooting...... Or even hiking or fishing, or AATV' ing, lol.

If you're on Tracks, you can strap/chain a tree/log across your tracks, straight across the front or back. Tree can stick out as far past the sides of the machine as room will allow. Slowly start turning your tracks as though you are trying to drive over the tree. The chains/straps will force the tree under the machine, lifting you out of the hole you're stuck in.
It's a bit of work, but not as bad as getting other equipment stuck.
Worked for me a couple times
