I took down the right side and my 2000 conquest the sprocket is free floating. The sprocket on the front axle is also free floating. The set screws on the bearings where all that was holding the idler shaft in.

cool beans dan67,that makes life so much easier.my argo service manual has no info on the older free floating idler sprockets, only shows how to install retaining clips on the newer style.was not sure if the set screws were supposed to be installed or not.

      thanks man.

heres a picture for tonight.it represents 7 hours of cleaning, spraying and painting.i cheated a little and left the frame in.did not realize the skid plate was riveted to the frame.just gave it a tremclad tune up to clean the frame up.

Thats cheating Plott,I have a ton of the factory blind rivets for that job,but I dont have the gun to install they are weird rivets if you want I will check and see Iam sure I still gotem if you can find the riveter.NCT

Well you can always give people good advice but most never take itgot ya covered on all counts,I have come to realize you need all the help one can giveOn another note I thought you had to pull the frame for a repair this is why I mentioned the factory skid rivets, heck I wish I had a gun to do them they are kinda like very small huck fasteners, and they are tough as can be,thats one reason I never installed my skid plate on my Avenger.NCT
