  • Hello I recently bought an older model argo now all I have to do is jack up the spark plug and build around it.

As my profile says I live in Peterborough Ontario Canada. In my spare time I trap fur bearing animals. I have lots to learn about ARGOs and looking forward to it. It does run and everything is in tact but the one major repair I have to tackle is replacing the bottom hull. I have a new one on hand and know that it's going to be a huge job. I will start a seperate thread looking for advice.

Looking forward to reading, learning and asking lots of questions.

You are welcome to come over my way. I have a few you could test out and buckhtr17 has an argo and a max. You could test them all and see what style you like best. Attex, Argo, Max, Scrambler. My 208tt is currently down for a cleaning/fixing to get it ready for ashtubula. Which if you went there you will get a taste of all sorts of amphibs!!! Great fun even as a spectator.

        • Hi my name is Sam, I'm from Alberta Canada. I recently purchased a 2010 Argo and need to adapt it for wheelchair access and drive. Has anyone done this before? We've almost completed the access part but are still working on the steering, gas and brake controls. I'm a quadriplegic with no hand grip, so I think I'll need a joystick. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

          • Welcome to all the new members. Sam, 6x6World member turvuren is working on a wheelchair accessable Attex 6x6 so he might be able to help you out. Tim is a very nice guy and also very knowledgable about AATVs. He isn't online that much, but it would be worth a shot to send him a message.

            • New guy just bought an Argo 6x6 2001 two weeks ago getting to know it a bit. Have quaded for years but wanted some more versatility water and swamps for hunting fishing etc.
Have been reading your site for a few weeks which heiped me greatly when purchasing my Argo thanks to all who take the time to post their expertise or expieriences was great reading. I take my sons and grandsons out on my Argo and was just camping and tried it on a mountain lake and it was fantastic to be able to trail to a walk in lake and just drive in and fish the grandson's were very impressed and myself also . I live in BC Canada so will have lots of lakes to visit. Built a raised box inside my short box Ford and back the Argo in and ithe tail gate closes to allow trailer hauling made it out of 2x10 which got it over the wells just perfectly thanks again to one of your posts which gave me the idea. Will need future advice on getting a set of tracks? how much power does on loose do they really make a difference in swamp and snow etc. Thanks sorry to run on nice to be here.

                  • Hi missyswoody, welcome to the site and congratulations on your purchase as well. If you will call the factory with the serial number they will tell you what year your machine is. Amphibious Six-Wheel Drive All-Terrain Vehicles: MaxATVs - Call 1-800-255-2511 It sounds like you are already on the way to getting it up to speed as far as maintenance is concerned. If you have any specific questions you may want to search the site. If you can't find what you are looking for just start a new thread in the Max forum. Have fun with it!

Never thought of 6 wheeling before. always into quads and dirtbikes. came across the max on a used stuff website. thought id give it a try. broke an axle the first time out! slowly going through everything after fixing the axle (waited 2 months for parts from recreatives...fixed the old ones in the meantime) Im sure you'll hear all about it in the forums someday! Thanks for having me!

                          • Phil and Jesse, welcome to the site.

Phil, that sucks that you broke and axle your first time out but I'm glad that along with slow service from Recreatives didn't discourage you from trying it again. Let us know how it goes.

Jesse, try starting a new thread in the "Other AATV" forum and I'm sure some of the guys with Lockleys can answer some of your questions. Not everyone checks this thread.
