  • Hello everyone. I'm new to 6x6's and just picked up an old scrambler 1000 with the intent of restoring it. Its not currently running but is more or less all complete, Minus a fuel tank, carb and some chains. So far I have stripped it out to the bare tub so I can repair a small crack and powder coat all the pieces. Probably going to line the tub with some bed liner while its out as well. Couple of questions for the group. What friction material do I get from Mcmasters for the brakes? Is there anywhere to get a new replacement disc? What size wheel and tire fits on this thing after I swap the hubs over to the 5 bolts?I'm sure i'll have more questions later thanks guys.

    • Hi Jake, welcome to the site. For your technical questions, try starting a new thread in the "Other AATVs" section of this site. It should get a better response from some of the Scrambler owners.

          • Hi All,
I'm a newbie to the 6x6world from the Ottawa, Ontario area, and looking into buying a used Argo Avenger. I've been hounding Mike with questions and have missed a good deal or two trying to find one, but Mike is really positive telling me to explore all my options and good deals are out there.

            Thanks
            Dean

                • Hi ak4712ga, welcome to the forums. The best advice I could give you would be to read through the Argo section of this site and then, when you start working on your Argo, use the search on this site for the answer. If you don't see an existing thread that mentions your specific problem, start a new thread and ask away. Good luck with the Argo.

                          • Hi Argonaut, glad to have you aboard. Glad to see a few Avengers on site. Post up some pictures and tell your location. There may be a riding buddy on the site out there...near you.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

                            • Hello everyone, I have been wanting an Argo for years, finally bit the bullet this spring and purchased a used 2005 Argo avenger, with windshield, convertible top, winch and tracks. The machine had only 206 hours on it and was well taken care of.

My wife, granddaughter and I have gone on a few adventures with it already. Took the tracks off for summer, and built an outboard mount for the receiver hitch. So far we have used a 45 lb thrust electric for fishing a d crossing lakes. Works pretty good!

We are outdoors people and plan on doing some winter traveling with it, with a heated wall tent for a base camp. Can't wait for snow! So far we have found we can go almost anywhere if we have a long rope, winch and chainsaw for deadfalls and sharp beaver stumps.

We live in northeastern Minnesota 65 miles north of Duluth.

I am already enjoying this website, and hope to learn more and read your adventures.

                              • Hello AATV community, I have just recently aquired a max IV from a great uncle. It was not running when I go it. I have the engine running fine 18hp vanguard, but have a lot to learn about the transimission, clutch and linkage. I am new to AATV's but have 4wheelers and a side by side. Looking forward to getting this machine on the trail for me and the children to enjoy the Louisiana swamps.
