Newbie here...Hustler owner since 1985
Hello to All,
I stumbled upon this sight by surprise. I've googled "Hustler ATV" in the past and Richard's Route 6x6 is the only site I found.
My stepfather bought this Hustler new sometime in the '70's. By the mid '80's, the Hustler was not being used and was in need of repair. I worked on it and got it going and had a blast with it. It should be against the law to have so much fun!
Well, it got to where the chains were coming off way too often, so it sat from the mid 90's up until about 5 years ago when I completely disassembled it, sandblasted and painted the frame, replaced all bearings and chains, replaced chain adjuster rollers & repaired/replaced axles as required. After taking a break from it for a year or so, now I'm back to working on it again, on a budget, I must say. It's practically finished and ready to go again. The wife says paying the mortgage is more important than buying new tires to replace the old dry rotted tires that won't hold air that are on it now. I suppose she's right.
I'm planning on having the upper body installed within the next couple weekends and hopefully I can at least take it for a short test spin. No serious riding until I replace the tires.
I just wanted to say hello to everyone here at this site. By the way, I have the original Hustler owners/repair manual that came with it. It includes a manual for the Kohler 440 engine and the Borg Warner transmission. Also, I think it even has a manual for the Walboro carburetor.
There's a few attachments I've added to this post that some may find interesting.
Take care,
Roy
