  • New to the 6x6 world have never even road in one!
I just bought a basket case Argo from a neighbor, and I do mean basket case, seems to be all there.
I've wanted one for as long as I can remember.
I have no idea what year it is because it has no VIN nuumber, where do I begin to look for info on what this thing is?
I started tearing into it and I can tell you she's waterproof because by the looks of the rust it holds water just fine.
Could really use some help finding out what year and model she is??????????????

    • Welcome to the site.

Dobber, it sounds like you are already having a blast with your Argo. Post some photos of it in the gallery so we can see what you've done.

Captain Hooked, once you put your Argo back together you should know it inside and out. That's always a plus when your out riding away from civilization. For the year, there are a few threads in the Argo forum on how to find out if you will use the search. Also, if you post some photos of it, some of the Argo owners will probably be able to at least help you narrow down the year. Good luck with the rebuild.

      • Been a dirt jockey since I was 12yrs. old. Everything from racing moto-cross to ATV's.
Now its mostly a Harley and the southern back roads.
I was at a friends house when I seen this 1967 Jiger 6x6 sitting in his shed, to make along story short.
We did a little horse trading and some explaining to my girlfriend as to what the heck it was and here it is.
Took a little work, but it runs great. I was really surprised at the power of that little two stroke. I had
to dig into my old school resources to figure out the drive system even talked to the inventors grandson.
        Hope yall" enjoy the pics.

Very cool Tim, that's how I started out,as a kid my pops bought a new Jigger off of John Gower at his Rexdale factory it was one of the first that he produced it had twin engines, little either power products or Tecumseh single cylinder two smokes in it,you had to lift the seat flap and pull start them, unfortunately long before I discovered this site the machine sat in a shed here long forgotten, many new machines had replaced it and the machine was scrapped,I never thought that there was a following of people with interest in the old AATV,S,its great you found a early copy.NCT

            • Thanks RD, its a little ironic that your videos and insight are one of the reasons I joined. I don't get on the computor much, so when I have some decent pictures downloaded I'll try out a PM and see if we can muttle me through it. I have been pretty busy at work and all, but I have managed to spend $2k on parts which I am slowly getting into the machine. What a learning experience! Can't say enough about anti-seize! I had stripped some of the bearing extension bolts when I was removing them, so I have decided to step up all of the bolt holes one size (1/2" bolts). I still have lots of metal to tap into, but I was concerned that the bearing extension itself may be a bit weakened, but as it turns out, it should be good. Do these extensions have a tendency to break often? It doesn't appear as though they should, but I am a new rider and can't realy tell for sure.

              • I have some Bush Swampers, 16 and 24 wheels. I worked in them and have all the service manuals for them and the grizzly. I have been hook on them from the 80`s because of a trapper that gave me a ride on beaver dams.

I use them for hunting, fishing and to ride on are 150 acres land.

So if anyone need some technical advice on them I could probably help.

Hi Michel, welcome to the site. It's good to have a Bush Swamper expert on the boards. There aren't too many owners here but there are a couple. I'm sure your knowledge will come in handy.

Jiger numkber 746 is fairly complete but needs tires .They are the single bolt type balloons .What is the fix here guys ? thanks speedbuff

                      • Hello, I'm Sam living in the clear blue skies of Mt. Holly, NC. I currently do not own an aatv, but have been looking at getting one in the near future. I wish I could have gotten one before everyone went off to Busco beach this weekend. I have been watching the live video and it is awesome! I first got introduced to aatvs by McCoy, (met him at my son's school function few months back). I have always enjoyed fourwheeling and when McCoy told me to go look on 6x6world.com and check out the videos, I was hooked. I have been reading posts, watching videos, and looking at used aatv's for a few months now. I am hoping to get one soon. I am selling one of my atvs and as soon as that happens I am going to be buying an Argo 8x8. (I think, or at least because it can fit my whole family plus cargo and seems more stable going up and down hills. Just not sure if it is less nimble in the mud though.) Just don't know if I should go for an older Conquest, newer avenger or go for the gold and get the new one with the admiral transmission. I test drove a new 8x8 avenger with the admiral transmission and tracks but without the 3.3 transmission and it was amazing!! It felt like I could have gone over and done just about anything I could want to do with it. Pretty much it felt like a tank, very stable. Any advice or comments on the differences' between the Argos over the years would be extremely helpful to determine what I should be looking to buy. I look forward to one day mudding with you all!

                        • Hi Sam, welcome to the forums. It's good to have you on here. I think the best thing for you to do is to come over to McCoy's house one day when we are all riding there and ride / drive some of the different machines and see which one suits you best. A new Avenger would definitely be nice but you can have just as much fun with an older 6x6 too.

                          • I just bought an Attex and don't know the first thing about 6x6 AATVs so am sure happy to see all the great info here. Mine has a Kohler engine swapped into it and so far I haven't found anything that looks like the drive setup mine has (doesn't have a transmission like the manuals posted show - more of a straight shaft). I don't know if it's a modification, early model or what and am not quite sure how to figure it out other than dig thru 6x6 World and hope I find something. I can't wait to get it going!

Welcome to the site campingguy! Sounds like you have a first generation attex with a bakerhill 6000 series transmission. The easiest way to tell the generation is if it has #40 chain and exhaust exits on the left rear or straight out the back.

                              • Hello from Ontario. I picked up an amphicat from a flee market a few years ago as a project, I guess it's time to start putting it together. I was looking for some info and stumbled here. As a guest I browsed and have now decided to join. I am sure to have questions, this seems like the place I might be able to get some info.
                                Thanks
