  • Hey everyone;
    Just jumping into the 8x8 world, just bought a 1994 Argo 8x8. I live in western British Columbia and looking forward to using something to help get moose and elk out of the bush. Also, I want to take two other people wth me (my son and my dad!).... Can't see that happening with a quad... hehehe. I am kinda leery beause I hear that "older" Argos are fraught with mechanical problems (and I have never owned one before), but the Argo really seems to be the moose hauling, family toting machine I'm looking for. Any thought on maintaining mid 90's Argos?

    • Hello everyone
      I finally joined after several friends told me about this place. I have multiple old snowmobiles, a Suzuki 230 quad sport that I have had forever and my newest toy an Attex 6x6 that needs alot of love but now runs and drives with two flat tires in the rear. What a ball to drive, always wanted one since I was a kid. I look forward to learning things from other members or maybe I will be able to help someone too. Thanks for letting me join-------Kevin

As a guest I browsed and have now decided to join. I am sure to have questions, this seems like the place I might be able to get some info.
        Thanks
        Welcome to the site. Good luck with your Amphicat rebuild.

        Hi BrentRanger, welcome to the site and congratulations on your purchase. Whether your Argo is new or old, the maintenance is similar. Grease your bearings, lube your chains and keep dirt out of the tub on a regular basis. Change the fluids regularly in the engine and transmission and just keep an eye open for any problems before they arise and you should get lots of enjoyment out of the Argo.

                    • Hello folks. My name is Robert R. I'm kinda new to the 6x6 world. I ju.st bought a 96 Max IV a couple months ago and I'm hooked. Rebuilt carb on the 20hp Kohler Mag, replaced all drive chains and a few other odds and ends and on the road. Or should I say offroad. I have been reading these threads the whole time I've been restoring the Max. Very informative. Just wanted to say thanks for all the tips.

                          Chris, congratulations on your Max II. It's cool that your dad had a Max 25 years ago and now you finally have one.

                          Robert, it sounds like you should have a Max that will give you a lot of trouble free riding. Have fun with it.
