I recently got the urge to pull the old Max out of mothballs and do a full refurb on it. It's a mid 70's Max II. I bought it used some 25 years ago and it's run probably 50% of the time. That would be my fault, not the machine's. Now that I'm older and wiser, I'll be able to fix it right. All the forums and how to's should inspire me. Looking forward to it. I live in Western New York and have been to Recreative Industries a hand full of times for parts. Dave
Hi Dave, welcome to the site. I'm glad to hear that you are excited about your Max again. Seeing others having fun with their ATVs is a great motivation.
Evening fellas. I'm embarrassed to say I am new to talking much on forums........but I plan to do a lot if it with you guys. Unfortunately I do not own an AATV and probably won't for awhile still. I have a 2yr old daughter and a son due on Sept 16th. So there are more important things... However I'm trying to do all the research I can on these things because I'm totally engulfed in the idea of having one and want to learn all I can from the experts! Can't wait to get to know you guys and hopefully live some of the awesome things I've seen in ya'lls YouTube videos. Thanks for having a site to enjoy like this!
Hello to all.
My name is George Williams from Hollister Fl. and I found this site while looking for Tank related items. I am a building member of scaledtanks.com and we have a few builders that are going to use the T20 transmission in there tanks and one that used an Argo as his hull. I had a 6X6 Scrambler back in the late 90s until I lost the engine and I miss it. I am looking forward to picking your brains about transmissions and drive train and maybe one day getting another AATV again. But for now I have Tanks to build!
Hi everyone. Thanks already for the great info. I just got a Camel Centipede in on a trade and needed some help identifying things. This site has been a big help! I found a site that sells vintage parts. It looks good but you never know. Has anyone dealt with Parts Reloaded, Your Source For Hard To Find Parts! ? I can't wait to get this thing going and will post some before and aft pics if I can figure out how to do it.
I guess I can consider myself somewhat lucky. A good friend of mine gave me what I believe to be a ATTEX 500 for fathers daly 2011.
My only problem is I am not sure as to the make or model of the 6 x 6.
The engine is a Kohler K295-1ST, and was run about 1 year ago.
I am intending to take the unit to my property in North Carolina when I get it in running order. As of now I am unalble to learn anything about it.

Welcome to the site,
Post any specific questions in the Attex section of the site. If you post some pictures of the machine, we should be able to give you some direction as to what you have. I don't believe Attex ever came from the factory with a Kohler, but it is not at all uncommon to see machines retrofitted with different engines.
Where in NC is your property? There are quite a few members in and around the carolinas.

Hey Gerry,
If the pictures you just posted are of the machine you were given, you have a Sierra Trail Boss on your hands.
There is quite a bit of discussion in the "Other AATVs" forum to help you get started.
TriCart.jpgI've been enjoying the site for a while now. I finally cleaned out the bottom of my Dad's 3-bay garage (used to be my Pap's garage). In it were 6 vintage snowmobiles (60's with Rockwell JLO engines) and an SPD Tricart (JLO 230) I used to ride as a kid. I can still remember all the times I fell off the back of the thing! My Pap used to deal in Tricarts way back when.
Someone recently told me a story of a man bargaining real tight for one of the Tricarts. Apparently my Pap didn't like his bargaining technique nor his offer. He kicked the Tricart over the bank and said "Now that's what I think about your offer!". It sat there in the weeds for years. I don't know if this one in the pic is the same one or not.
Anyway, I've got my work cut out for me to restore the Tricart to its original glory. I hope to teach my teenage daughters about the combustion engine in the process before they head off to college in a few years.
So I am Blair from Raleigh NC, and I dont have a 6 wheeled vehicle.....yet, but I just picked up a Sperry Rand Tricart earlier this week. I was looking for a group that may be able to help me once I kind of dive into this thing. It is actually in pretty good shape, and I have a feeling that after I change the fluids and plugs this week she may start up, but we will see. SHe has been sitting in a barn since 1979. I picked it up for $100! If you know anything about these, any information would help as I hope to start working on it this weekend.
There are a few of us on the site that have Tricarts or have had them in the past. There's nothing too complicated about them- most of the same engine and drive parts as older Amphibs, only on a smaller scale. $100 is a great price for the 'cart. Good luck with it!
Stuck in the seventies- not in the swamp.
(6) Attex, a Hustler, a Super Swamp Fox, (2) Tricarts, (3) Tri-sports, a Sno-co trike, 3 Dunecycles, and a Starcraft! ...so far
