    • John here from Queensland Australia (metric!). Mechanical Engineering dropout, now working as a carpenter. Interested in 6x6 and tracked ATVs after having a 'what if' idea (miniaturising the TATRA style swinging axle system) for a 'go anywhere' vehicle for farm use/hunting/bush bashing etc. My research repeatedly brought me to this site and now I'm hooked.

      • Hello all!! I'm new to the board here (obviously). Been reading for a little while here as we(my brother and I) were hunting for a Scrambler to play with. Well, we finally found a couple and now are getting set to try to get them running. One is in OK shape but has been sitting for about 8 years outdoors. The other looks to need some more attention but we'll know more about that this week as we start to tear into them.

Our step father had a Scrambler back in the '70's that we would get to play with now and then so we wanted to find one to fix up and play with again. I'm sure we'll be leaning on this site to help us as we rebuild/restore these two machines. Ideally we would like to find one in better shape but we'll take what we can get at the moment.

I'll try to post some pics as we start working on them this week.

We live in south eastern Wisconsin.

          • I have been wanting an AATV (6X6) for about 40 years. When I was about 14 in the early 70s I saw a Honda 6X6 AATV at the dealer and even got the brochure. All I can remember is that it was red and had a 250cc engine and it was not made for very long. Does enyone know what that model was called? I cannot find any info on it on the web. As the dream evolved I developed a passion for Max ATVs but never had the means to buy such an expensive toy. Well I finally purchased a Max IV (circa 1996) about a week ago. I has an 18HP Vangaurd (which I am considering upgading) and came with a few extras like the roll cage, canopy, windshield, bilge pump, and a dual wheel kit (has 24" tires on 12" wheels). Only down side was the seller turned out to be a dishonest ***tard and he stole $1000 in cash from me. Well that is water under the bridge and I am looking forward enjoyong this new thing. For me the dual wheels may be handy as I live in the south and it is likely to spend some serious time in a slow moving deep river. It has been too damn hot to try it out much yet. My first addition will likely be a winch. Any other advise is appreciated.

              • Hellow 6x6 world! Thanks for allowing me in! I just bought my first amphibious vehicle, an Alsport tracker! My grandfather had the fast GT model when I was a kid and I have been looking for the right one to purchase for a long time! The time was right a bought a single lung tracker, hopefully it won't take much to get her back up and running! Grandma coined Grandpa's tracker the "TOY" I will continue with this name with mine! I look forward to watching everything on this site! Hoeguy,Lance

                      • Hi, my name is Glen, I am new to the 6x6 world, I just purchased an older Max IV as a project. Started stripping it apart today. I like to rebuild from the ground us so I know what I have in the end. Can't wait to enjoy the ride but until then I am sure I will be looking for the best place to get parts. I live in Newfoundland Canada so there are not many places around to get parts. If there is anyone out there that has any suggestions please let me know. I have been reading some of the restoration project post and must say they have caught my attention. I have been restoring motorcycles and ATVs for the past 12 years. Glen

                              • Thanks for the welcome. My buddy and I found an old Max IV several years back and have been working on AATV's ever since. We now have a Max IV, Max II, and a Hustler. We recently acquired an old military mule to restore. should be fun, but since it wont float, it will have to be a back up vehicle. Looking forward to following you guys here at 6x6 world.
