That is AWESOME!! Too bad I'm not a welder, or I'd be taking apart my shifter today!

Another nice mod is to put you steering shafts in a pipe bender and give them more tweak to the left so you are not sitting in the middle. It really helps if you take passengers along.
could you post a picture of your modified shift levers ... would love to see how much bend you have

Thanks for sharing Larry, this is a have to mod for me.
What size where the parts you used, especially the "collar" piece.
            Thanks.

Thanks HP! Im happy doing stuff like that helps people out. Unfortunately, I don't have the measurements. I just went around through my scrap and found a piece that would work. Just measure the shaft and find a piece of thick walled pipe with the ID the same as OD of the shaft. The thicker the stronger it will be.
Good luck with it and post some pictures of it when done.

Do you mean 1/2" gas pipe?
and what is a nelson pin??
My "good stuff" pile does not consist of goody goods of this sort so I'll be making a home depot trip.
                  Thanks for the help!

yes thats it. the nelsons pin is a large steel rod with a big flat head that is welded to the outer steel band on a building to tie the wall into the concrete slab. looks like a nail on steroids.

Hi, Just joined the site and am interested in doing this mod on my new max 2. Is there any issue with mod as in additional wear and tear, dammage etc.

Excellent mod. How would you do this on a Max 4?

The modification will not wear on your machine, but possibly on you. With one side in forward and one in reverse it will turn scary fast, BE CAREFUL. I'm sure lawyers are the reason R.I. does not include this on new machines.

It's possible on any machine with a t-20. Just examine your linkage, you may have to fab a new one from scratch
