6x6 racing in ashtabula
Just thought i would let everyone know that Deek Scott the 1970s national champ attex racer will be coming to pine lake for the races next weekend. I spoke with Deek today he will be there both saturday and sunday and as long as my machine is not broken he might race it in the over 50 class.

Cool! See you there MW. Can't think of what's in the "package", but I guess I'll be surprised. It'll be good to meet up in person! We're planning on being there Thursday noon or so, and Sue's driving up on Saturday.
Micmac and the boys & I are going to head down to Big Boy's Playground in Harrisonburg Saturday morning for some test & tune. They have an MX track, drag strip, mud bog and trails. We'll check it out and maybe hold an event there soon.

I would think that you do need the cage regardless of the race but I don't know for sure. I'm supposed to talk to Bud again Friday or Monday and will ask him then.Originally posted by amphibious drew View PostDo we need a 3 point cage minimum for the endurance race??? I know thats required for the regular races.

I think I know where you're headed with this Drew, and it's a great question. If Bud relaxes the safety requirements a bit for the endurance race, we could see all manner of racers and trail machines on the course. This would be utter chaos, and utter awesomeness. I think the single race would quickly degrade into about three different races with the fast machines lapping everybody a few times, and a couple other packs of quick stock trail machines (heck, there are lots of Max IIs that'll do 30mph, no sweat) and then the slugs (stock Bigfeets, Swamp Foxes) bringing up the rear.Originally posted by amphibious drew View PostDo we need a 3 point cage minimum for the endurance race??? Basically, it'll turn into one of the Busco trail rides when all 30 or so machines decide to go out at once, but at least we'll know where everybody went.

I spoke with Bud today and just wanted to pass along a couple of small updates:
It looks like the endurance race will be 1 hour long and it will be held on Saturday morning or a little before lunch. The endurance track includes the entire TT track along with the wooded trail and is a total of about one mile long. After the endurance race we will break for lunch and after lunch Bud is going to open up the track for test-n-tune from about 1-4. The TT races will be held on Sunday.

Well, less then 2 weeks til racing at Pine Lake.
Anyone else thinkin bout that "Endurance" event there was mention of earlier
I took advantage of the exceptional Cleveland winter to do lots of work on my Argo,She may not be fast enough to win but should certainly endure
. I plan on arriving Thurs after work.

Gees, Joe. I missed this video, too. I thought you might have been busy with your "Passing the Trout" project, but this is soooo much better to see.

1. All 30 lug nuts are tight (and not just hand tight from last week's maintenance/inspection period).
2. Diamond shifters are secured so they will not pop out.
3. You have a drive belt.
4. Check that you have enough fuel.
5. Clean the mud off your goggles from the last race.
6. Warm your engine up so you don't have to cold start the engine and flood it.
7. Figure out a nice balance in tire pressure that moderates overinflation (bouncing all over the track until you crash) with underinflation (where the sidewalls give way and you end up catching a rim on the track and crash)
8. Earplugs if I'm driving the 503.
9. Remember to keep your eyes open for Grandpa Cicora in his Tomahawk.
10.Make sure your lap belt is in the locked position.
11.Remember that when the flag drops, it means GO!
12. You will not touch anything that is hot barehanded.[/QUOTE]
13. When starting the race ensure the fuel shut off valve is OPEN.
