Hi skidrowe. Welcome to the site. Do you know how much torque that kubota diesel has? It would probably power an 8x8 as I imagine (I'm wildly guessing here) it would give you the same torque as a 18 HP gas motor but you may want to see if you could get something a little larger to have some extra power on hand. You may want to start a thread in the Argo forum so others will chime in. Good luck in your ATV search.

hey 6 wheelersI live in Maine and just bought my first Amphib ATV - an 89 maxII -Has a single cylinder OH18 HP tecumseh, ( Overhead Cams)
Max body in great shape, chains and sprockets already replaced and all good. Had to give some TLC to starter, solenoid and went through the carb and fuel pump. The T20 may need some love too but not didging in there just yet.. But here is what I need some help on please... The engine doesnt want to ramp up when I give it throttle - I have set all the mixture screws according to spec and adusted after warm up but it still wants to bog out and shut off if I give it throttle ?? I also noticed thee battery meter is not showing charging when engine runs - any helpful ideas? I am not sure yet if I have make and break ignition points or CDI ( capacitor discharge Ignition) I will know that soon but in the meantime - any ideas or links would be greatly appreciated.

Hi swfleur, welcome to the site. You will probably want to start a new thread in the engine forum so that more people will see it and be able to help you out. I don't have any experience with the tecumseh but often small engine regulators will not charge the battery at idle. For the bogging down, if you rev the motor with the choke on does that help or make it worse?

Popeye from SO ILL,
I am very excited to say I just purchased my first aatv. I ran across a guy who had an ATTEX 6X6 for. The knowledge that I gained from this site has been priceless. I am not sure exactly what I bought, or if I gave to much, but I am looking forward to finding out! I have ridden ATV's and dirt bike's almost all of my 42 years. I work for the state of Illinois, and would love to see other aatv's in the Marion Illinois area. I enjoy the site very much, and hope I can give some helpful input.

Hello. Im from eagle river alaksa. Been lurking around on here trying to decide if an argo is what I want. I currently have a rhino. the rhino has been pretty good. Its gotten me everywhere I asked it to go. But I havent asked it to go where an argo can go. Plus I dont like only being able to carry one passenger, and the thing is horrifically loud inside the cab. If I go argo Im not sure if I should get a 6x6 or an 8x8. If money werent an issue I guess I would just get an 8x8. But The 6 might suit my needs just fine as well. Im also not sure wether to get new or used. That new admiral transmission seems to be getting good reviews, but also some not great so who knows? Im not sure how old of an argo to get either. I heard the old ones were maintance nightmares. But what is the cutoff for that? Lots of questions so I better get back to surfing around here

Justin, welcome to the site and congratulations on the Gotcha. The only thing better than an AATV is a free AATV even if it does need some work. To start with search the forums here, specifically the one called "Other AATVs" for the keyword Gotcha and you will see a few threads on them already. Then if you have specific questions don't be shy, start a new thread in that forum and someone may be able to help you.
rimfirematt, welcome to you too. You definitely have a hard decision to make. If you have any Alaskan buddies with Argos try out a few different models and see what you like. I don't think you would be disappointed with a 6x6 version and you could get a much newer model for the same amount of money as a little bit older 8x8. With that said, if I were in your position I think I would look for a used Avenger 8x8 with low hours. Those can be found with <200 hours on them in the $8000 - $9000 range here on the east coast and to me they represent a good value with excellent performance. Of course if you can swing a new 8x8 with the admiral it would be hard to resist that too.Whatever you end up with I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Hi everyone,
I just became the new owner of a Hustler 950. For $500.00 I got the 950 with 5 tires/6 wheels (not great condition but functional), new chains, axle bearings and the T-20 transmission. In addition, he threw in a Kohler Ch25 engine and a second 950 top. It was running well at one time with a different engine but now needs a bit of work. I will need to replace the wheels/tires, replace the bands on the T-20 and get the CH25 mounted. I will also need a clutch for the engine. The inner workings look good (everything is turning and well lubed, sprockets look good too). Needless to say, I have a bit of work to do but I look forward to the challenge (father and son project). I also will be using the search function more than I know.
I will add pictures and document the rebuild if it will help others. I live in Alabama and work in the USAF. Thanks for this great forum and I look forward to hearing from everyone.
