Just getting started. Looking at an older unit that has been sitting out for a while. It has a transmission, tires, chains
but no engine...is it worth the effort to get going. Think I can pick it up for about 50 bucks

A $50 machine can be hard to pass up, however it may be a fortune to rebuild it. What brand machine is it? Do you got any pics? I would think that someone would need the trans out of it if its good and they would probably give more than $50 for it, but not knowing and make machine it is that's just a guess. I would say buy it and post some pics. If it is not worth rebuilding we can let you know and you can sell it as a parts machine or part it out yourself to get your $50 back and the gas money you used to get it.

Amphibious Drew is correct,It could be a fortune to restore an older machine,also just because you restore one to original,doesnt mean it is going to be a good machine.There were alot of bad engineered machines that came out in the late 60's and 70's.Let us know what it is then we can tell you the possitives and negatives.

This may sound like a bad thing, but it is actually good. Sometimes an old machine needs to be sacrificed so that others can live again.

Hi All
Just got my first 6 wheeler for Christmas. Cool toy! It's a Hustler 900; not sure of much more than that except it has a new B&S engine and has been partially restored..runs great. I look forward to playing with something smaller than my other three axle toys...Historic Military Vehicles.

I'm normally a HMV (historical military vehicle) fan. I've got mostly 2 1/2 ton trucks but also have a CUCV Blazer and a 5 Ton. Except for the Blazer all have 3 axles so I guess I've been in the 6x6 world for quite some time . Look forward to learning about the Hustler; finish the restoration on mine and just have some fun.

hi. I'm new here. I bought a 90's vintage max2 a few years ago. I've wanted one since I saw an aatv ad in a magazine when I was a boy. I love the thing. It has some issues, but were working through them. I came across this site when I was looking for info for my machine. I liked what I saw here so here I am. I live in northern Wisconsin. we have plenty of creeks swamps, & woods to play in. plus lots of snow. I look forward to learning about upgrades/ info for my machine. thanks.

Hi Amphib Forum i found this site through Youtube . I have always been interested in the Amphibs but dont own one yet. Im from northern Wisconsin so i do have all the other toys . I guess im here trying to learn about different makes and models to see what will fit my needs of hunting / fishing and just playing around the best . Hello All,
I am Jeff and have been interested in 6 wheel atvs for most of my life. While I don't currently have one I do like to watch the videos and tech messages.
I live in Ohio now so getting a atv may not be the best idea yet as I still have a couple of motorcycles to deal with.
A few weeks ago I was wondering if 6x6's were still made and visited youtube to see if anyone had posted a video on them and wow the videos for 6x6 World were outstanding .
This seems like a close knit group who shares their knowledge willingly so I signed up (maybe this is the push I need to get a atv).
I look forward to exploring the web site and getting to know everyone.

I live in pa but spend a lot time around Akron. I have a machine stashed at my family's property to playwith when I am in Ohio as well. What part do you live in? If you want to test some machines out we could meet up or you could go to pine lake in ashtabula in June for our annual races. There you would see a lot of the aphibs manufactured today and back in the early days as well. I am sure you could test out a machine or 2 there. One drive and you will be addicted.

Yes, AATVs are still made. The Max, Argo, Mudd Ox, Hydra Trek, and a few others. Many people say, "6 wheelers, I thought they stopped making those a long time ago." It's a pretty common response.

Hello everyone, thank you all for such good website. I dont think you can get as much info (on AATV) on the web as it here. Nice videos and photos and good information on machines. Im looking to buy used one, so all this in new for me. But definatly it will be Max IV. Been reading a lot here lately and learning. Im far way from you guys but we have nice places to ride and we like to have fun to. so we have alot in common. Thanks again.
